Hey, Minnows! Free Promotion to 2500+ FANS, PLUS a Chance to Win Free $SBD and So Much More.

in minnowsunite •  7 years ago

It is more blessed to give, than to receive, and I need to practice a little giving today, so here's the deal! To say thankyou to all of you that have given to me, this post is open to quality links to your recent blog posts, in the comments! I have over 2500 followers and you can expose your work to a new, larger audience!

Now, I know, a lot of users are selling votes and resteems, but that's not what this is! You will not need to spend a single cent of $SBD to participate, but you will need to make an investment of a little time and effort.

But, there are a few rules, so here goes.

  1. Upvote and resteem the post to make sure as many as possible get to be involved, cool?
  2. Add your link, no junk, no morally questionable material, and no spam! I will downflag spam links!
  3. In addition to your post link, leave your steemit name in an @ mention, like this @markrmorrisjr in your comment, for me to follow.
  4. Interact with the other links shared. This is how you grow an audience, become friends, support them with resteems, upvotes and comments! Follow interesting people, who knows, they may follow you back!

Here's what you'll get for participating!

I want to be sure there is something in this for you, so here is what I will do! I'm going to make it pretty generous, so, pay attention!

  1. I will reply to every single comment.
  2. I will upvote comments that add value (first come, first served)
  3. I will follow every single link!
  4. I will follow every single author that adds a link!
  5. I will comment on every post that is linked from here, that upvotes, and resteems!
  6. I will upvote content I find interesting and value adding! (first come, first served!)
  7. One lucky promoter will be given some SBD from this post. How much, depends on how far the post spreads! (selected by me, for being a relevant post, quality content, and following the rules here)

Here's how you can get the best chance to win!

Everyone who participates has a chance to be selected to win, followed, upvoted and replied to. But, if you want to give yourself an advantage, here are some things you can do to really catch my attention!

  1. I'm doing this to help you gain exposure, BUT, I like exposure too. Show some love, upvote my posts,
  2. follow my blog,
  3. comment on other comments, join the conversation!

So, this post will be open for links for seven days. After that, I'll announce the winner, and one more thing! I'll be writing a post with several of my favorite linked articles, recommending your work to my 2500 followers! Yep, you could get mentioned again, in the body of a post from right here, next week!

READY? SET! GO!

If I get a hundred comments, votes and resteems, the prize will be at least $3 SBD.

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.

First off ... thank you for this...

I'm hoping that once I enter into a "dolphin" status to use your blueprint here to Give Back... My handle here on steemit is @makingthebest09 I am following you. I took a look from some of my post as a minnow thus far, and found this to be a post reflective of my best content:

MARK MORRIS JR IS KIND.jpeg

***IF I WIN your kind reward, I plan to share it with those that UPVOTE my comment....

Very impressive comment :) I have also upvoted your post and I will try the recipe too! I think there might be some habaneros in the garden ready for picking! I especially enjoyed your use of the word 'slathering' in the recipe, it's a great word that isn't often used in modern times, such a pity. Well played 👌

That is a great word. There are a lot of them . I personally think I need to spend more time with people who use the word "whilst".

😆 There are indeed a plethora of underutilised words in the English language! Although, I must confess that my written word is much more eloquent than my speech.

I bet your bush looks wonderful... your garden of Habaneros..

100,000-350,000 Scoville units.jpg
You have to send me a pic of your results from using the recipe... Yes I used "slathering" because the words "coat" or "dab" had no flavor to them... thanks for commenting! I plan to share @markrmorrisjr 's bounty if I receive it... :)

Yep, slather is the right call!

Thank you for the notification Mark. As much as I would have loved to join in and compete,it behooves me to tell you that I have been beset with the recent bandwidth restrictions on plankton leading me to be in severe deficit and unable to transact in any manner or form. Oh and I'm a bit of a flake and the rules are too stringent for me,and I have a day job and children and blahdeblah. I will, however, read the posts with keen interest and wish you the best of success with your endeavour. Until next time, when the bandwidth chief smiles upon me!

HAHAHAHA! It would be a challenge for me too. Too many years being an artist, a self-employed artist. I"m hoping to get my steem back up to where I can just delegate a few SP to each participant for the ten days, at no cost the next time. I hate how this strangles new users. But, when I started, SP was dirt cheap, they could afford to give more, and there was a lot less competition, for the same number of SP in the reward pool daily. SO, hang out, read the posts if you can, if there's one catches your eye, join in, I'll gladly give pointers on it, if you want.

Thanks Mark, I appreciate your kindness, it's great what you're doing. I do have a favour to ask, but first, I just wanted to say I looked at day 2 and I wish I'd seen it before my latest post. Anyway, doesn't matter I'll keep it in mind for next time. I got some great tips out of it and it looks like your project is going fantastically. I'm so glad nothing gets archived here...yet, so I can go back and read things I didn't have time to study properly. There's just SO much! Anyway about the favour, I know you're very busy, I can only imagine the amount of planning, effort, creativity and strategy required to do this kind of thing for a living, I will have to plod along patiently until I make some headway, if only to see how far this experiment goes, although with your background and experience it must also be lots of fun! Oh, before I ask the favour I thought I'd share one little titbit of info you might not know: a full long post with images etc uses about 3+kb of bandwidth, although yours maybe more because of the memes. So what I wanted to ask was, do you think you could develop a fast track dolphin school for busy/lazy people with less homework? 😉

LOL! You bucket brigaded me! NiCE! Um, I'll have to think about it. I'm sure I could. I could probably also edit this down to half the content without losing anything, but I came up with this idea on Monday, so.....I'm pantsing it a bit. I've been writing and teaching this stuff so long as a blogger and marketing consultant, I open my mouth and it just falls out. I'm planning to write a good guide to steemit. The ones I've read, suck mud. So, the images are sucking up bandwidth? I'll cut back on that.

WELL PLAYED! I love it! Gamification on top of gamification. So, I upvoted your comment to get some of my SBD BACK!! LOL I used to be a dolphin, headed back there, had to cash out last summer to handle some good things in life.

Haha thanks man... we’ll consider me a team player... whatever you need to help push other minnows ahead count me in...

I'm joking, of course. It was a brilliant touch.

I’m learning from the best (you)...

Ok, enough sucking up. LOL

I have done pineapple like that before, well, without the chicken and with less ingredients cuz money. The next time try adding white rum or vodka and set it on fire and then let it simmer, it really adds a nice flavor to the pineapple

I'm in deep conflict about your comment... I mean, on the one hand, it was short and sweet, to the point, and certainly adding value to most people's lives... And the OP seems to have liked it a lot =)

On the other hand though, I am now terribly hungry but dinner time is still a ways off.

And on the 3rd hand (hey, don't judge), I am feeling morally conflicted because I'm vegetarian and I don't like being made hungry by pictures of juicy chicken kebabs.

The only way out of this pickle, methinks, is, checking out your other posts and hopefully finding some delicious vegetarian recipes! ... If I don't find any... I know where you live! (Well, you know, more or less. Miami, FL can't be that big!) ;P

Hey now, threatening comments are not appreciated! LOL Ever notice how fast Vegans, who are all about peace and love will go Rambo on you if you talk about loving meat?? (I'm eating a salad as I type thisLOL)

lol, indeed, there are some pretty crazy vegans about. Their hearts are in the right place but they often shoot the cause in the foot by being total dicks. I'd be a really nice vegan if it were possible to be vegan where I live.

I really hope @makingthebest09 didn't take any offence! Was just trying to be funny, which often fails if I use too much irony/sarcasm in a text ;P

lol... all is good... was just trying to power up and conserve bandwidth... I'm trying to become a dolphin AMONGST all of these whales...Are you going to try
@markrmorrisjr's great course... You should!! I am!!

Hello Mark! Someone I was following re-steemed your post and serendipitously I am here, eager to participate in YOUR contest! I'm currently looking for support for my STEEM SKATE project where I host bi-weekly online skateboarding contests on Steemit.
here is an image to add flare to my comment:

Here is the link to the Minnowsupport project application that is also my entry to your contest:
https://steemit.com/mspsteem/@web-gnar/minnowsupport-application-for-steemskate-a-weekly-steemit-skateboarding-contest-like-open-mic-we-are-looking-for-supporters
and here is my account name:
@web-gnar
I will promptly resteem this post to my almost 700 followers, and I have upvoted you post 100% which sadly is only around 12¢ because I can't seem to take a break from steemit to let my upvote power charge back up.
I swung through your blog and upvoted a few ofyour posts. If you could help in any way support skateboarding on steemit we would all be grateful!
Screen Shot 2018-01-28 at 10.06.59 PM.png
Also, I've been trying to pump out steemit related Gif animations that i've been learning to make with adobe flash. So there might be some content that your followers would like, all the gifs are free to use and I've been turning my paintings into crypto-gifs!

@web-gnar That was a great comment. Its nice seeing valuable information shared on Steemit. I went by your page and followed and Upvoted!

NICE! Value added comment there! I'll see what I can do about supporting the skaters, dude! LOL, do you guys still say dude? (I'm old) Anyway, I'll check out your post. Thanks! See you around!

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

hell yes my dude

I was being sardonic. LOL, I'm not THAT old. Later days!

hm sardonic i had to look that one up. I have been sardonic before... you are an author... i am in yourwebsite right now. wow. that book cover is awesome!

i'm a visual artist and i will say that is a badass book cover. Now im not going to so say that I will read your whole book just yet! i have a hard time reading books these days! hm... i just convinced my friend pat who is a creative writer to join steemit. i'm sure there are writers guilds around steemit. seems like the type of unique place to get people who are willing to read each other's work.

meh, getting other writers to read you is a double edged sword. We're way too critical. Yes, I 've actually published I think sixteen books at this point and ghost written another half dozen with other authors.

well hey, let me know if you need art

I did the bookcover by the way. Ha

With all the people getting involved in this, I'm going to be honest. I won't remember who volunteered to do what. If you'll watch for us to choose a hashtag to label all of this, you'll have an easy way to track it and when art is needed, we'll probably put up a bounty.

awesome concept. Have you tried creating GIFs through photoshop or do you find flash to be easier?

you make the layers in photoshop and drag the file into flash

Skateboarding on steemit... That's a first! (for me, at least) ... I love seeing this type of thing because it bodes well for the steemit platform, when all sorts of people are getting involved =)

Your post has now reminded me that I STILL haven't started exercising, which I meant to do from Jan 01. So thanks for the reminder... Won't be skating though ;P Tennis is more my thing.

Great Thank You post.
I'm still struggling to create good posts. So I can't really participate as I feel my stuff are too "bad" to participate.

In any case, I enjoy reading your post, and have already been following your work. It's a learning process, and until my work reach certain quality, then I'll participate. (even though tempted by the rewards)

Thank you once again dear sir. Kudos to the good work.

If my stuff is good enough, anyone's is!

Share something!!!

THis is the advice I receive from other bloggers as well. We all have difference perspectives so no two posts are the same! Go for it!
@jeejee

Indeed I have to agree that whatever you post is worth posting as everyone is different and if you don't post the things that you have in your life or are interested in then how will others with the same interests ever know you have them...?

It's all about repitition. I write over a million words a year. Yep. Not joking.

Nice, that would make a lot of sense. I also write a lot... probably close to your 1 million words a year if not more. I wouldn't know a way to track how much I write but everyday I spend 4-5 hours on my computer and I type around 150 words a min. So there is a lot of typing in my life. Always when on the computer I am typing to someone or on something... like STEEMIT :D Haha, hmm... now I wonder if there is a way to track how many words I type... without keylogging myself. :P

Damn! 150? I can do about 90 on a test. So I figure I compose somewhere around 120.

Haha that just made me smile because I was just thinking that the best I have done on a test is around 120 but I type a lot faster when I don't have to type something I am reading. :P

Best person I ever saw on a test was an teacher I had when I was in high school. I was only hitting 80s on the tests back then and was way beyond the others in the class and the teacher came over and busted out 285wpm on my test... I was dumbfounded and still to this day have never seen a faster typer in person. Won't ever forget that lesson haha.

you never know until you do it. Like you said in your Monday Poem- "Monday comes again, regardless how we fight"

I think you're going to be posting anyways, regardless of how its received. What do you have to lose? Keep the faith

Do you want to know how I became a professional freelance writer, making up to $150USD per hour? I wrote over 3000 how-to articles for Demand Media in 16 mos at $14 a pop. The only way to get better is to subject your work to an audience. You might look at grammarly.com if you need help with English. It's free! There's another editing tool called Hemingway that's very reasonably priced. Also, just ask for critique, any time. If I have time, stop by my page that day, find a dolphinschool post and ask me to look at it. I'll give you tips anytime! I'm launching dolphinschool bootcamp today. For ten days, there will be assignments, and there will be rewards for those that work hard and do good work.

Hi @markrmorrisjr I'm actually new to steemit and i appreciate this your post alot. Thank you for looking out for us new steemians. Pls upvote my posts and resteem too. Thanks so much in advance IMG-20170203-WA0001.jpg

By the way I STRONGLY Disagree with the writing in the picture.

Prayer is for talking with God to strengthen your relationship with Him.

There is so much to talk to God about but if you don't talk to him like you would your earthly Father then how can you have a good relationship with him?

Well, Jesus taught us that gratitude is a precursor to getting what we want from God. so it may not be the total reason, but it definitely should weigh more heavily on the American mainstream christian mind than it does currently, IMO.

Oh for sure I agree we need to be thankful, and definitely talk to our heavenly father about how thankful we are. It just shouldn't be the reason why we pray. There should be many other reasons as well.

As Paul talks about being in prayer all the time: "Pray without ceasing"

I would have to say that to be thankful should just be another reason added to a long list. :D

I think you mean it shouldn't be THE reason. Because sometimes, it is the reason for one conversation, I open my mouth and that is all that comes out. HA

Hahahaha okay you got me there.... thanks for the correction. :D

I do the same thing all the time... just need to thank God for some things real quick here. :P

I learned that when we pray, we are speaking to God. When we meditate, we are listening. I don't think there is anything wrong with thanking God for your blessings

Oh no nothing wrong with it at all. It just shouldn't be the only reason we ever pray... Sorry, I don't think I worded my post right there. As Paul said, we should: "Pray without ceasing." To me that means pray about everything.

I personally try to say thanks for EVERYTHING every day. If you want to learn about the power of gratitude, pick up the book The Magic by Rhonda Byrne. I will caution you, if you are a strict Biblical constructionist, some of it may rub you the wrong way. But, ultimately the stuff she teaches is life changing if you apply it. She has her own understanding of scripture, as we all do, but truth is universal.

Indeed truth is universal. Although I am a follower of Christ and a believer in the Bible I have a great open mind and can take most things at their face value and still learn from them even if they don't exactly line up with the way I believe. How you said it was great wording. "Truth is Universal". I love it.

Well, in that case, the book The Magic, no, it's not about anything occult, should be on your reading list. It will change your entire experience in life.

Hmmm, I will see if I can find an online copy for both of them as I read from time to time and don't have anything to read at the moment.

You both are right in each of your own opinions but i just strongly believe that if we don't appreciate God for what He's done for us, we'll always have that debt with Him..and ofcourse, if we're always thankful He'll definitely give us more than we even expect😊😊

YES! I agree. The Bible even suggests that the entrance to God's presence is through thanksgiving.

By the way, here is my steem id @hakima0 and a link to one if my posts steemit.com/marriage/@hakima0/marriage

Howdy @markmorrisjr I wanted to thank you for providing this opportunity to interact within the community and a place to leave our links for even more interaction! I was fortunate enough to have come across this post of yours because of a Resteem from one of my friends. Now I have upvoted and resteemed as well. I am looking forward to perusing the comments to check out the other posts.

My name is @castleberry here on Steemit. I joined the platform at the end of last September and it's been quite the experience. I look forward to growing more in and with the community. I am now following you and I look forward to checking out your blog. I also wanted to share my post from yesterday here with y'all.

I am an artist trying to get back into being productive. Steemit has been very inspirational and motivating to get the ball rolling again. I just started a new sketch and will be documenting my progress throughout the week. Here is my first phase in the process!

Steem On My Friend!

Hi @castleberry =) .. Something I really want to do here on Steemit is connect with other artists (though I haven't done pencil in a long time - mine is all digital, using fractals.) so I'm glad to have found you here. I'm very new to this platform. I'm also happy to have discovered steepshot thanks to you, since @markrmorrisjr kindly shared it with you. So thanks to both of you ;)

I briefly went through your blog and man, "Maximum Carnage" is especially cool! lookingforward to seeing more of your work!

Hey @mandelsage! Welcome to Steemit! I like art in many forms to be honest! It is great to connect with you and other artists here. I am glad that SteepShot is up and working well. Sounds like a great opportunity for many people to share! I really appreciate you taking the time to check out my art! That one did turn out well and I really enjoyed sharing the process over a few posts. I am almost done with a Spider-Man I have been working on! You may want to check out the course that Mark will be giving over the next 10 days or so in how to grow as a Steemian. He left the link to that post below. I am going to give it a try! Hope to see you around more!
Steem On My Friend!

Hey great! I'll be having a bounty contest for a logo, once we come up with a hashtag for all of this. Also, if you're not familiar, go to steepshot. It's an offsite gallery for photos and art, similar to instagram. The posts go to your Steemit blog, but, they are in a curated streem on the site that filters out most of the content on steemit, giving you a better shot at getting seen! Good luck!

Thanks Mark! I will have to look into Steepshot for sure! There are so many new developments... it's hard to keep up with! I am super excited. I used to do logos so I am pretty sure I will participate for that one! Keep us Posted & Steem On!

You know about the steem tools page, right? In the hamburger menu at the top. It's got a lot of great stuff. Especially for researching your followers, and other accounts and posts, etc.

I have not fully explored all the tools... but I have poked around with some of them! Thanks for sharing. I know I will get up to speed this coming 10 days! hahaha

Oh thank you so much! Yeah I got a few friends who just watch, but don't want to skate. Can't blame them, it's pretty easy to get hurt doing it.

HA! May I borrow your gif? That is amazing. Thanks for the support.

As someone who is still new to the platform I believe posts like this are great and useful to little fish like me. Im a big fan of the way this community engages. I see you and @steemgoblin taking great steps to help fellow Steemians become more engaging and this type of behavior will help lead to the growth of the overall platform. Going to check out all the links in the comment section and try to help this post make the impact on others as it has on me.

Since I am an artist I usually only post art and will share my favorite and most recent post of my LTC fan art. My comments on Charlie Lee are inline with the sentiments your post projects. Its really cool to see so many people coming together to help on another

https://steemit.com/litecoin/@nolocreates/awsn4zzx

Let me give you a huge tip. Post your art through Steepshot. Just use the search feature to find it. It's part of the steem blockchain, but, it's more of a gallery feel for single images, like instagram. The images post here, but they are also on the steepshot site, which is a curated view, that cuts out a lot of noise and competition. Post through steepshot, it ends up here, but you're more likely to get votes right away. Also, the top right corner there's a menu button. Open that and dig into the welcome and FAQ there's a lot of weird stuff to learn here. Good luck! I'll take a look at your blog.

Great advice. Will definitely check out Steepshot. There is so much to go through, it can be a bit overwhelming at times*. Really want to learn how to design better posts. Have a lot of coding to learn

No! Go get Markdown Pad2. It gives you an easy to use editor that does the coding for you, and a Wysiwyg preview window. Also a great image uploader. My recommendation? Learn what you need to learn to create each post. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

Maybe... you... don't... eat elephants? lol JK. You sir have officially given me more valuable responses than anyone else, anywhere lol. This should make things easier and better for me. Am looking up Markdown Pad2 as we speak.

There is a free version, but if you can swing the paid one its a little easier to work with.

Digging through Google but I'm on a Mac so can't use markdownpad. Looking for a Mac alternative. Thanks again @markrmorrisjr

Yeah, I read an article about that the other day with some newer options. I just checked my history, but it's not there. Anyway, good luck. There are several. I suggest one with two windows, unless you're used to working in code. That way you can see it as you go.

This a very nice initiative, I thank you for this. More strength to you. I hope I get selected. I have upvoted, resteem and followed.

Hey @emeraldearth I checked out the link you posted here. It is an awesome post. I spend a lot of my time using the app on the phone. I have figured my way around to make my post better through the phone but you shared some information that I didn't know. I followed and upvoted.

Thank you so much @magicalmoonlight! It seems that the more we learn, the more there is to learn! It's a great app for us phone bloggers, I am going to continue to use it and see if I can figure out more features, and maybe do a follow up post. Have a wonderful day!

Thanks for the comment. The photo is from Gratisography, which has AMAZING images and offers them free, without attribution. I'll take a look at your post. Also, I wish I was a whale HA! I was a dolphin, once upon a time, but life put me in a place where I needed to cash out.

Thank you for the referral, I will go and have a look! I thought whales were 70+ reputation, I still have a lot to learn here :) How wonderful that Steemit supported your needs in life, a great example of the platforms potential!

The classifications have to do with stake in SP. I was a dolphin, at 16k SP, until I powered down. Now, I'm a medium sized minnow. You are considered a plankton. LOL I'm not sure how official any of that is and you kind of have to pick it up as you go. But, yes, Gratisography is great!

Cool, I get it now! Yeah, no reference in the welcome menus about the ocean, very fishy indeed! Plankton is fine, for now ;)

I thought I was a baby dolphin but quickly learned I too am plankton lol. Great use of the word magnanimous. Will be checking your posts as I hear good things lol!
Plankton's_Pet.jpg

HAHAHAHA! Yeah, I'm still a minnow, well, a minnow again after I powered down this last summer to do life.

Yeah, but I think I want to keep that separate. I need to start using it for the primary tag, so steemit will add it to the list.

Amazing initiative, my post might be boring for some people, but is about the best experience i ever had, is one of those things i think every day, even when it has been two years since the trip, thanks for the opportunity, i have similar posts on my profile @manuelmendez, and i'm planning to do more about my many trips, the rest of my posts are more about my personal view on certain topics
https://steemit.com/photography/@manuelmendez/the-way-to-the-summit-of-humboldt-peak

I hope you enjoy it

Awesome! Thanks for sharing I'll get over to your blog this week and leave a comment or two, possibly upvote and resteem!

Hi, @markrmorrisjr and all Steemians out there!

Thank you for this opportunity. I think it points to the very goal of Steemit: sharing opinions and forming communities (and, why not, making some money while at it).

I stepped on this contest by chance, but now I'm following you and enjoying your posts. So I'm very glad I found this.

Anyways, I'm @sarahart, I'm an artist and I joined Steemit because I want to share what I do and get feedbacks from all around the world, and also to see what everyone else is doing and being able to express my opinion about it, while also knowing I'm helping them and recognizing their work monetarily.

This is a post I made about one of my works:

https://steemit.com/art/@sarahart/wrinkles-i-creative-process

I hope you enjoy it!

Wow! Interesting piece, can't wait to learn more about it. I'll be by your blog in the next couple days.

Thank you! Meanwhile I'll be hanging out by your blog and these post's comments. This is awesome (:

A fellow artist! =) I'm new to this platform and something I really want to use it for is to connect with other creative people. I'm a bit anti-social so doing this offline is difficult for me.

I'm going to have to get off the PC for a while but I've followed you and will go through your blog later! And being a philosophy student on top of that! I'm sure we're going to get on well =)

Welcome! I can relate to that, I even feel a little awkward sharing my crations here, but it's worth it. I'm sure you're right. Thank you, you have all my support here!

I already signed up!

Hi dear friend !!!

Amazing piece as all your work. I love you.

Thank you! Your work is amazing too. <3

I think this is a good idea, my name on Steemit is @gduran, and this is the link I am using for this:
https://steemit.com/crypto/@gduran/crypto-robbers-a-new-fad

@gduran I checked out your link. Thank you for sharing that info. I think it's definitely valuable information that needs to be shared. I followed you and Upvoted.

Great! Thanks, did you upvote and resteem the article?

Sure.

Awesome, I'll take a look! Thanks for getting involved!

Thanks @markmorrisjr for your giving spirit. I @redheadpei don’t know what kind of a fish I am , probably a smelt...something smaller than a minnow:)
I’m posting a link to my true story about a ghost ship.
https://steemit.com/ghostship/@redheadpei/burning-ghost-ship
I have been following you and have upvoted and resteemed.

This was an amazing post! Thanks for sharing it. When I was a boy, I read everything I could get about ghosts and hauntings. For three years, we lived blocks from the old Wyoming Territorial Prison, that had become the state penitentiary, widely believed the most haunted prison in the world. It's a museum now. Thanks for taking part in my project!

You are welcome @markmorrisjr. I love true ghost stories and have been known to scare people so bad they slept with the light on for two weeks.
The penitentiary haunting sounds interesting. Why not post a story on the haunting there?
Thanks again.

Well, you won't scare me. I've faced evil, but my belief is that I've got something bigger. HA! You should definitely look it up. It's the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins Wyoming. There's been a movie done on it too. I'll leave the telling to you. That should be your thing on here. It would go over great.

I'll add this anecdote. We lived three blocks from it. I had a "Grit" paper route that took me right by the prison. One day as I was walking by it, the sirens sounded an escape. I was terrified. I was in fourth grade at the time. The man was never found until a year later, his bones had been picked clean by the coyotes. His body was in a small cave, about four blocks the other side of my house in a bluff overlooking the town.

Mark, that is scary stuff for anyone much less a fourth grader. Do you think the coyotes killed him or was he scared to death by something else?...
Thanks for the great anecdote. Sorry about the late reply but had bandwidth excess quite often.

Who knows? It's a high desert. He could have died of thirst, gotten lost and wandered back close to town before hunkering down to freeze. I never heard.

Yes, it is a mystery why the poor man succumbed in the cave. So many reasons..maybe hiding from an UFO.

That link you posted was nice. I loved the stamp picture the most because I recently had a friend find a very rare stamp while doing some work on his house.

here is a picture of the actual stamp they found. Probably not worth much in the condition it is in but maybe they can sell it or give it to a museum or something... who knows. They are amazing people and I bet they will do something great with it if they decide to not keep it.

Thanks Timbo for your comment. Nice stamp you posted.

Thanks that is a 1 cent Benjamin Franklin Stamp. If it didn't have the black lines signifying it had been used it could be well worth several hundred thousand dollars although I am unsure what they will end up doing with it.

@redheadpei I checked out the link you posted here and I really enjoyed it! I love creepy stuff like that. I upvoted and followed you as well!

Thank you @magicalmoonlight. I’m glad you enjoyed the Ghost Ship story. I have followed you as well.

This is awesome! Thank you so much for this opportunity. This goes to show that Steemit is meant to be a community where we all can be successful and help one another succeed. I hope to one day be able to give back to the Steemit community like this.

For now I can only share my thoughts and inspiration. My goal is to bring success to Steemit and to all of those with valuable content.

Here is a picture from my most recent blog, 3 Secrets Of Success. image

https://steemit.com/steemit/@magicalmoonlight/3-secrets-of-success-372ef33ace05b

That is the link to my blog and this is where to find me - @magicalmoonlight
Again, thank you. I have followed you. I also upvoted and resteemed this post.

Hey, you can do this too! You might not have the SBD now, but you could give upvotes, or resteems and follows and comments! Seriously. Don't wait. I'll tell you a secret. When I do these things, it's as much to build my audience as it is to help, not that I wouldn't do it anyway, but it's good for business. What's good for you, is good for me in the long run. The person I choose to win this prize is going to be supportive of my efforts. I'm not trying to buy them, but it's reciprocal. Go for it, you'll be amazed at what happens if you offer to give whatever you can. you'll earn it back ten times over.

That's the most valuable advice I have received. I will put into this community in Upvotes and Resteems as much as I can. Anything to help others succeed as well.

Thanks! I will tell you this. I live in OKC, grew up poor, and I have a huge family of 8 kids. Last summer, because of powering down what I earned in 2016, we went to Chicago, threw a wedding, went to Arkansas and to Paris. and... I bought a car and moved my family into a MUCH nicer home. So, it can happen. I'm not saying everyone will have my success, I'm a professional writer with an ideal skill set for this place, but you could at least hope to earn enough to get a plane ticket to paris and a nice hotel for a week. Follow me close, I'll show you how.

Thanks for sharing such an inspiring story. I look forward to learning from you. Maybe one day I can share my success story.

You know, you probably have lots of success stories you can share. Have you ever just decided to have an amazing day, and it happened? That's a success story. Start where you are.

Wow amazing

Thanks, I'll take a look.

I like it! This is a cool idea. Simple, but practical and well designed. Thanks! I'll get by your blog this week!

Thank you for your reply. I am with you 100%. In many ways I'm in the same boat as you. I really appreciate your advice and direction.

@mineopoly I am very happy indeed to have found you here! I am an English teacher, too, living in Brazil. The exercise you shared is wonderful. I'm sure it must be really effective because, as you must know, when kids associate their learning with their personal lives, they remember and internalise everything much easier. I hope you don't mind if I borrow it ;)

I took a brief look at your other posts and have followed you. I feel like we will have many interesting discussions/interactions.

Oh, and I especially love the poem on the page you linked! I have decided to share my poetry here too, for what it is =)

Thank you @mandelsage for your interest and wonderful comment. I'm glad you took a look at some of my posts.

You are very wise to consider carefully who you want to follow. When I first started I followed everybody and later found that was not a good idea.

I will post a teaching post every Monday or Tuesday these are the days I don't like to go to school and it will make the day more interesting.

@adamrant
Simply commenting on a few posts you promoted has already been a huge benefit to myself, but believe you me, I'll be paying it forward!

Thanks for your advice in regard to whale hunting, what you do for the Steemit community and I'd venture to guess those that surround you at home!

lol... After scrolling down, and down, and dowwwn, checking out how many comments this had already gotten, I almost decided to spare you and not make one of my own, but nope... Hehehe... You got yourself into this! ;P I'm sure you'll survive.

_
Right, let me fulfill all the requirements... Value-adding comment? I know just the thing. Here's a question for you, dear reader:

Why is a towel the most important thing you could possibly have on you while traveling the galaxy?

If you know the answer, well then, Hi! ;)
If not, then, well, off you go, do some research, and thank me later. And by this, I don't just mean, find the answer to the question. You'll need to read the whole book, too. Only then will you truly understand.

Upvote and resteem article? Check!
A link of mine? : What to do on Steemit... I've finally got it! Check!
My steemit name? @mandelsage .. Check!
Interact with other commentors? .. Almost check! I'll get straight to it after this comment =)

Anyway, on a more serious note...: This is the third article of yours that I've read, and I followed you before reading it. Steemit needs more people like you, from what I've seen of it so far. (I'm very new here). Especially with how huge the growth of the platform has become.

I am an artist and an aspiring writer too, so I'm looking forward to going through all your older content and learning as much as I can. I'll share everything I find enriching, even with only my very small audience.

Finally, remember...

THANKS! Been carrying my "towel" on my intergalactic voyages since the tender young age of about eleven, I think. LOL Great comment! Glad you didn't skip it.

Just saw this since I have been stalking your page for a but and I love the idea of helping others. As I see you have some great core values I want to help as much as I can. :P

@Timbo here just lending a helping hand.

You asked for a link so here is a link to an article I think a lot of people will enjoy... well I hope they will because I put a lot of time into it. Had a lot of fun making it though because it was awesome to have the day off and get outside with the lady!

Last thing left is to start upvoting all the other posts and making sure everyone at least has a little something :D

Thanks for helping others, I see you do a lot of it. Keep it up my new found friend!

Hey! Great post. Spending time with the special one + spending time with animals = perfection (at least to me). Good luck on this contest (:

Thanks a bunch! It was an awesome time for sure!

Hey great comment! Thanks for stopping by and doing so much to support the cause! Great pic, looks like a fun time. If you have one person in your life that lights up like that when you are around, you are a blessed man! See you around.

Hey thank you very much, and she is amazing. I love her to pieces and am glad I have someone like that to spend my life with. With our first son on the way (Charlie) we will be very blessed as a family to have so much light, love, and life among us.

Thanks for the encouragement and for sure I am here to support those around me as I too from time to time need some of that support.... just as @papa-pepper he once upon a time gave me support that I needed and it kept me here on Steemit. ;)

Good on you. We have eight and going on twenty-seven years. It just gets better.

You have eight kids!? Wow! That is so awesome. 27 years as well. Wow how blessed you are indeed.

I am actually 2nd oldest of 7 and I see myself having a big family as well. I am very excited to be on the path that I am on and I pray it continues to grow... in favor with God and man.

I'm oldest of seven, four bros, three sis. I have four of each, from 22 to 8. It's amazing.

Wow! Incredible family you have! I hope my is just as grand... Wait... what does it feel like to tell people you are oldest of Seven and then to tell them you have 8 of your own?

HAHAHA! It sometimes blows minds. I get asked if I'm catholic, or mormon a lot. Not as much as I used to. It can be a fun conversation. Some think I'm crazy, others are like you.

Totally understand and I'll make it worth the time. Also, don't drop out if you miss one, you can catch it up, but even if not, there will be a lot to learn!
