Personal Branding

So what do you all think about using a personal branding website to build out your resume and position yourself as an expert in your field?

Will it help find a better job?

I mentor fellow veterans on LinkedIn and set up my site as an example.

What do you think?

I am sure glad that I am no longer in the job market
There sure is a difference between now and 10 years ago

Just think what it will be like in 5 years. It's changing so fast we all have to adapt. I tell all the Vets I mentor to produce as much content as they can in the industry they want to go in. Just one part of what they need now to get noticed.

Yep the Vets do need to do that. Most of the time they do not have the , “The Who you know” to help.
Thinks are moving so fast in the technology fields. They will never be up to date in education.

I highly recommend it, especially in high tech professions.

Most recruiters and h.r. departments use bots to crawl resumes for keywords to narrow down candidates. So it becomes more and more important to optimize a resume and your website. Like SEO on steroids.

What I don't understand is why they're still stuck on resumes. A LinkedIn profile is much more comprehensive than a resume, with a built-in portfolio. If you're looking for a traditional job, fine. But I see companies looking for content creators, content strategists, and online marketers by requesting a resume. Why? If I'm any good at those skills, I should be able to demonstrate it with a LinkedIn profile and a robust online portfolio. I'd think companies would recognize that and ask for those.

It would be very good. They've got to buy it
