You Can Do A Lot More But First...

If you had the chance to learn only one thing about Steemit, what would that be?

So it's true, Steemit is that very rare space on the internet where you can pen down your thoughts and potentially get paid for it. It's that place where you get rewarded for being social; both monetarily and otherwise. Steemit is an amazing community on the inside but we don't always get through to the inside immediately.

Steemit is like a gigantic machine with lots of moving parts and all these moving parts are presented to you at once. You're expected to understand them and weave your way around to get to the inside. Most times, when we stare down at this humongous beast, we consider our options and decide to drop the idea. It's always a daunting task, even to the ones who put in the work and make it through.

Could Steemit do a much better work in terms of creating a friendlier first impression? Definitely!

Should the absence of a friendly first impression put you off completely? I don't think so.

He who knows how to ask for directions will never get lost. - Yoruba Proverb

This is true and can be adapted to all walks of life. Every endeavor we embark on always has a way it had been functioning before we arrived and even if our plan is to change this, we still have to learn the basics first. But in the Steemit ocean, how do you even know what the basics is? Every turn you make, you find a thousand questions you need answers to. Everything seems weird and complicated and the excuse they all give for this is that Steemit is first of its kind and something on this scale has never been done before.

But hey, we have a deal to not complain anymore yeah? We acknowledge that there are a lot of things to learn and learning just one or a few won't guarantee total success because they all work hand in hand. So what we'll do is pick a point to start from and then walk our way up.

Some Questions

There are questions people have been asking me lately and it's funny because all the answers they need are right there on the welcome page and because of the weird space I currently find myself, instead of just relating the issue to Steemit only, my head wandered off into the dark forests of my thoughts and kicked in motion this process. I have however provided below, the top questions I get asked and their answers as per the welcome page.

- How do I write a post?

- How do I get followers on Steemit?

- How do I get noticed on Steemit?

- How do I make money on Steemit?

- What can I write about on Steemit?

- What's Steem, SBD, and Steem Power?

I know those are just a tiny bit of all the questions we have, but each one is a link to a post where you can find some answers.

The truth is that all the other answers you seek are just a search away. I want to believe every question you have would have been covered by some post at one time or the other.

How Does This Tie Into Life?

We should really learn to ask questions because there in lies the key to all the doors we want open and even others we didn't imagine we would need.

There's always the possibility of getting overwhelmed by the magnitude of the task at hand but if you realize, as I have recently come to, that all you need is that first step, your world will become a much better place. There's a lot you can achieve but you need to break them down into bits. You don't necessarily need to figure out what the right starting point is, just pick a point and start from there. You can then easily work your way forward or backward from there.

It's really that simple, feel overwhelmed, break gigantic mission into smaller goals, pick one goal to start with, then work your way up or down through the other goals.

Since we have agreed to go one step at a time, I want you to share with me what your number one priority is; If you could learn one thing about Steemit, what will it be?

I still feel bad most times not discovering steemit from day one and for me i didn't understand most things here when i registered and did my first post. We just have to start and learn along the way

your attitude will carry you far.

Yea, millions of people still don't know about steemit.com. So you're early

Very very clear vision of Steemit! Loved to read! You Write really well and share some very useful links to!! Thanks @fisteganos!

Thank you too 😊

Great advice,thanks for sharing.

I'm continually impressed with your thinking, it is that good. I think you are absolutely correct in having people break it down into steps. For me, I spend most of my time studying, thinking and reading. Writing is only the tiniest part. People don't often realize that. Reading comes before writing, every time. So really the question becomes, "what should I be studying?" after one realizes that the desired results are not happening. Those with inner insight, responsibility and other highly desirable human traits will succeed. The more vapid, greedy and impatient one is, the less is there for them in Steemit. It's the ultimate petri dish for the soul. Thanks for writing so well. It makes Steemit a lot brighter.

For me, I spend most of my time studying, thinking and reading. Writing is only the tiniest part.

At a point in my life, all I did was read and read. I consumed so much that I became scared I wouldn't be able to offer anything but it feels now like the more I consume, the more ideas I'm able to generate.

Thanks for the kind words. It's been a while 😊

Wow! Thanks for this piece. It gives newbies like me, more info on how navigate this awesome medium called steemit. Thanks for sharing @fisteganos

You're welcome. I'm glad you found it useful

its my starting on steemit and im trying to pay more time on it for my benifit
i think this is the only platform where i will earn more balance ....

God bless you bro. dextrously written. You guys inspire me alot.

God bless you too!

Honestly...i cannot agree more. You throughly captured my heart when you said ...'breaking them down into bits and approach each task one after another...'

When i first joined steemit, i was everywhere doing lots to get noticed to no avail. I nearly quit but due to the fate of people i brought to the program was at stake, i had to study harder to find the best way to approach it. And in the process, i learnt that program itself is a community having within it sub communities, and for you to realy get noticed easily, then you have to identify with a subgroup.

I then worked to achieve this aim and today can beat my chest and say 'So far...so challenging...but also so good'

This piece is very timely. Thanks for sharing

i had to study harder to find the best way to approach it.

That is what differentiates those who stay from those who leave and I wonder why people find it difficult to put in the work. I'm glad you chose the right path. Enjoy the challenges and don't forget to have fun lol

Great advice. Sometimes it's hard to even know what questions to ask. In that case, I would say start reading up on a subject until you can think of some questions to ask, and then you can narrow down your research to answer the questions. It also helps to examine what kind of unproven assumptions we're making about how life works, and then be ready to examine the assumptions themselves and adjust them as we learn more about how it really works.

Sometimes it's hard to even know what questions to ask.

This is absolutely true and your suggestion is spot on. The welcome page is supposed to provide us with just enough information to get the next set of questions flowing. Many people don't just take the time out to study.

Studying anything and everything helps us see things from different angles and this can only help increase our knowledge of it.

Thank you!

Appreciate this perspective tremendously and thanks to @stellabelle for making mention :)
