For Your Consideration: My Intent to become Moderator at PALnet/MSPsteemCreated with Sketch.

PALnet keeps getting bigger, and as more minnows pour in, the balance between order and chaos starts to tip towards the latter. Having over 40 channels with ~4000 members (and counting), answering questions, helping with the bots, and keeping the clutter cleared is no easy task. Despite the descriptive channel names, bots that list the very simple rules upon entry, and no shortage of people willing to answer questions, it seems that even more mods are needed to keep peace and order.

To be honest, I don't want to be a mod. I know exactly what being a mod entails, and how thankless of a job it truly is. As of now, I can help people in the right direction without being perceived as some authority figure, and I'm sure that has saved me from a lot of unnecessary drama thus far.

But, I also see the workload the current mods have to bear, and I know how much the MSP community has done for me so far. It is extremely selfish of me to not help a community that has helped me so much, especially considering how much time I spend there already.

I know some may only see MSP as an upvote bot, and not all of the ~4000 members there take advantage of the community that it brings, but once you have looked past the bots and experience the real individuals that make up the active users there, you see the very pulse of the steemit minnow community interacting in ways that are not really congruent on the steemit platform itself. This is the true value that it brings, and those pitiful souls who fail to realize this will be likely be trapped in cycle of mediocrity with only bot and F4F engagement on their posts.

I signed up to help minnows present their content over at #msp-workshop a week after I joined because I saw potential in that channel and wanted it to become much more than a spam-and-run. I run a free-speech oriented service called @freezepeach to encourage diversity of opinion on steemit, and I will help share the burden of continuing to make the PALnet discord a great place for all if the community needs me.

I require 3 witness to support me, but I would like to hear if the community is willing as well. Have I made your experience in the chat more pleasant? Or have I been a giant pain in your ass? Let me know in the comments.

WITNESSED!!! approval granted

Not that I'm a witness or anything. Bahaha.

Well hopefully that changes soon.

I think maybe I've been a bigger PITA to you than you have been to me. :)

I try to help out there where I can, lately I've less time to do so.

I think it's a huge sign that you are ready...and able to take on the task and I respect that.

I'll be checking out you hashtag soon. You've been warned. ;p

I'm down for this.

Yeah shane, your fault! 😜 j/k

@r0nd0n I have appreciated your assistance and presence there....what do I need to witness?
You have my full support!
Peace!

Ohhh.. Fine question! Got to https://steemit.com/~witnesses scroll to the bottom and type in swelker101 and click vote!

lol

Technically it's your fault anyway. :P

Somehow I don't doubt it.

hi @swelker101 i am not able to access MSP Discord Channel can u plz check.

I'm still very new to all this and it would be helpful if you gave some definitions in your article about what exactly a minnow is and who are the bots. Almost sounds like people are making fake accounts to put up their own stuff. It was my understanding that New account users were supposed to picture of themselves with some sort of handwritten authentication.

Minnows are the new users here, dolphins are the medium sized accounts with >5k SP (steem power), and whales have over 100k SP. @minnowsupport is a communal bot that upvotes the post you can submit via a command at the PALnet discord server every 12 hrs, and it is supported by members of the steemit community that loan it SP to help the minnows.

For your last question, I've never heard anyone ask for a handwritten auth with a photo, but I'm sure that would help get people to connect with you more personally, or possibly serve as proof if someone is claiming to be a fairly well-known figure.

You have my total support

Thanks Muxxy. Cheers.

I have missed you and went looking for some of writing without success then 💥 you see the very pulse of the steemit minnow community interacting in ways that are not really congruent on the steemit platform itself

Miss you smalls, your an excellent writer. Why don't you write more?

Maybe it's because I read in my own voice, or possibly because I'm aware of the literary giants that precede me, but I've never been satisfied enough with my collection of thoughts put to paper that I deemed it worthy of mass consumption. But, just like anything, practice makes perfect, so maybe this blog will eventually provide the means to motivate me in that direction.

and hopefully sooner rather then later.

don't wait to be satisfied my good fellow
get it published and then get it better and
get it published and
get it better
rinse and repeat

HolySmoke! ... Creepy clown thing aside.... You have my Vote...

I think that you will do a good job!

Thanks so much, this means a lot to me.

I approve this message 💕 love and a push +Resteem+

You're such a sweety. Thanks so much.

I see what it takes, in there everyday. You all do a great job. For what it's worth @r0nd0n you have my vote!
~ Mr Dingo

May I ask how minnowsupport distributes its votes on minnows please @r0nd0n.
How does it work every day ?
Does the bot pick a random name of a list?
Or start at the top of a set list and stops at a certain voting power level?
Just wondering and would like to know :)
I would appreciate if you would be willing to explain this.

I wish you lots of fun as a moderator :)

@minnowsupport votes on whatever post a registered member submits via a command at the PALnet discord server, and you can use it once every 12 hours. It votes about 1500 times a day, so it's not much money, but it can definitely help get the ball rolling.

Thank you for your fast answer :)

I'd support you as a mod :)

This moderator approves! :-)

@r0nd0n, remember me? You taught me how to do this! You have my vote! Good luck!:)

How could I forget? ;)

teach me too

obviously I am late to this party.

I already thought you were mod, from well before twelve days ago, so shows how on the ball I am

But let it be known far and wide, throughout this great steemit land, that @spaingaroo supports @r0nd0n as mod on palnet

big hugs
