Ever hear of National Loving Day? I hadn’t either, until a few days ago.

It’s celebrated every year on June 12th, celebrating the day that the U.S. Supreme Court declared that anti-miscegenation (interracial marriage) laws were unconstitutional.

Richard and Mildred Loving of Virginia, were found guilty of violating the state’s anti-miscegenation law.

They would escape spending jail time, and sentenced to probation if they left the state.

They moved to D.C.
