Miscommunication 误传

It is quite common to experience miscommunication due to different focuses or concerns. Hence, it is vital to know what is in the mind of the other person to avoid miscommunication.

Today my wife and me visited the Rimba Garden Central (RGC) in Brunei, and we enjoyed looking at the beautiful flowers and plants. We were at a place, where there are strawberries with plants. My wife said to me, “That is real!” My response was, “It is not!” Indeed, to me the strawberries are not real. But my wife was thinking of the small plants attached to the strawberries. Certainly, my wife was right as the plants are real plants. Our friend pointed out the miscommunication due to the different focuses. Indeed, my wife and me are right as far as our respective focuses. But each of us is incorrect according to the other person’s perspective due to different concerns. My conversation with my wife was a funny miscommunication.

Indeed, we need to enhance our communication skill by improving our verbal ability. However, effective communication is inclusive of knowing one another’s focus and concern, or what is in the mind of the other person.

由于不同的焦点或关注点，便会有可能产生了误传的情况。如果要避免误传，了解彼此的想法或关注点便非常重要了。

今天，妻子和我参观汶莱的 Rimba Garden Central，我们高兴能看到美丽的花和植物。我们在一个地方，那里有草莓和植物；妻子对我说：“那是真的！”我的回答是，“不是的!” 事实上，对我来说草莓并不真实。但我的妻子则是注意附着草莓的小植物，因此我的妻子也是正确的，的确植物是真实的；那时候我们身傍的朋友便指出由于焦点不同会导致误传。事实上，我和妻子各自的观点都是正确的；但是由于不同的观注点，便显得另一个人是错误的。结果妻子和我的谈话是一个有趣的错误沟通。

的确我们需要提高语言能力来加强沟通。然而，有效的沟通还要能意识到彼此的观点或者另一个人的想法。
