Part 33

As the attacks on soldiers who patrol the land have increased, and the war has become the main agenda item of the city again. After the Omay opened the Council meeting, she gave the first word to Tamra.

“It is a fact that the losses we have given in the open field have risen recently. We're taking the necessary precautions to investigate each incident and make sure that it will not occur again. Casualties will be reduced as our army's experience in the field increases. A few unfortunate events in a row should not cause us to retreat to defense. I think that such a position would be disrespectful to the memories of thousands of martyrs we have given to rise to the surface.”

Mitridat, the member of the council responsible for the industry, said: “the metals supplied from the mines of robots have eased our hands on raw materials. We have completed preparations to double our armored vehicle and cannon production capacity. We calibrate our weapons taking into account the characteristics of the robots. It does not seem reasonable for me to withdraw at this stage.”

Doma, Member of the Council for Foreign Affairs shared similar views with Tamra and Mitridat: “All neighboring nations are inspired by our success. East Rome is preparing for total war with robots. Tarsus began to produce weapons on a large scale. If we withdraw, we'il send them the wrong message.”

"The life and death war we fought a few weeks ago showed how our neighbors were thinking of us. As our people were dealing with hunger, they didn't send us a single grain of wheat," said Hader.

“If our neighbors beat the robots in their area, the attacks on the land will end,” Doma replied.

“No one but us has the power to defeat the robots. We don't want our neighbors to be too strong anyway. East Rome has a population greater than us. They could swallow us similar to other city-states," Hader said.

“I think the Eastern Roman Emperor acts as if he was preparing for war to calm the excitement of the people. We must focus on the happiness of our people,” said Omay.

Hader supported Omay saying, “I don't want to see any more funerals. I must have aged, it is touching my heart.”

Since Mitridat was intertwined with industrialists, he had the opportunity to observe closely the economic development created by the new situation. "The mines we operate have already begun to raise the welfare level of our people. Yerşehir can become the most magnificent city in history,” he said.

"Our army is scattered across the land. If robots attack again with great force, we can't answer,” Omay said. It was early to celebrate the final victory and embark on new conquests.

“Let's build high walls around the plateau. In a major attack, we would at least defend the main entrances of the city,” Akman said.

Tamra couldn't figure out why the others were so pessimistic. “We must rely on the power of our army. We have defeated them.”

“Building the wall does not prevent new conquests, we do not have to make a choice between defense and conquest,” Akman said.

“Instead of building walls around the plateau, we can increase our production capacity in mines, I would like to remind that walls will not block metallic flies,” said Mitridat.

“After completing the walls, we can lay up the iron braided nets,” Akman said.

Omay said, “Let's start the wall construction right away. For the time being, let's put an end to the reconnaissance missions and increase the number of troops around the Black Lake and the mines.”
