It’s now or never for the Boston Red Sox. Barring a miracle, the defending World Series champions won’t be winning the American League East this year. But they could still sneak into the playoffs with a Wild Card – and they’ll be at home this weekend when they meet the New York Yankees for a four-game series at Fenway Park. Sunday’s Game 3 will be shown on ESPN starting at 8 PM ET.

The Red Sox are busy patching together their starting rotation after losing Chris Sale to injury, but it looks like Rick Porcello (5.63 ERA) will suit up for Boston in this one. Porcello has the Sox at 16-12 this year with the Over at 18-10, enjoying 7.07 runs per game in support; that’s well above Boston’s season average of 5.75 runs.

Masahiro Tanaka (4.42 ERA) is already scheduled to throw for the Yankees. Tanaka has pitched very well of late, providing four quality starts over his last five games to improve his team record to 17-11, with the Under at 14-13-1. The Bombers also hope to have 3B Gio Urshela (.924 OPS) ready for Sunday’s game after he sat out the past week with a strained left groin.

MLB Odds: Rivalry Resumes with Yankees-Red Sox

This week’s series at Fenway between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will be the last time these two ancient rivals meet in the regular season – and possibly all year, unless Boston can gain some ground in the AL Wild Card race. Sunday’s first pitch is 8 PM ET on ESPN.

Rick Porcello (5.63 ERA) is pencilled in to start for the Sox opposite Masahiro Tanaka (4.42 ERA) in a matchup of two former aces. Porcello may never contend for the Cy Young again after winning in 2016. As for Tanaka, he made his second All-Star team after a five-year absence.
