The Milwaukee Brewers are on the cusp of returning to the playoffs. They won’t catch up to the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central, but at 86-70, the Brewers are four games ahead of the Chicago Cubs for the last Wild Card spot, and each team has just six games left to go.
Milwaukee may even clinch by the time they visit the 73-83 Cincinnati Reds this Thursday, beginning at 12:35 PM ET on the MLB Network.
Their plans may change depending on their playoff situation, but at press time, the Brewers have Chase Anderson (4.30 ERA) projected to start Thursday opposite Luis Castillo (3.25 ERA). Anderson has a team record of 13-13 for Milwaukee, with the Over at 13-11-2.
Meanwhile, Castillo has been one of Cincinnati’s bright spots this year, posting a 17-14 team record with the Under at 19-11-1. The Brewers are healthy heading into the stretch, except for one very important player: OF and reigning MVP Christian Yelich (1.100 OPS), who’s expected to miss the rest of the season after fouling a ball off his kneecap. SS Freddy Galvis (.734 OPS) is day-to-day for Cincinnati with a sore knee that has kept him out since Saturday.
