A critical three-game series begins this Friday between the Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays are locked in a three-way battle for the final two Wild Card spots in the American League and own a one-game lead over the Cleveland Indians at press.

Toronto hasn’t fared well against Tampa Bay this season, as they’ve mustered just four wins over 16 contests. The Rays will look to capitalize on their success over the Blue Jays this year and secure a playoff berth against the AL East rivals.

These high-pressure games are exactly what Blue Jays’ management wants for assessing their young talent down the stretch. As a result, they’ll send rookie starter TJ Zeuch (4.58 ERA) to the mound on Friday. Zeuch is coming off of a four-inning performance that saw him surrender two earned runs on four hits against the New York Yankees.

Zeuch will be up against hard-throwing righthander Tyler Glasnow (1.92 ERA). Glasnow will make just his fourth start since returning from injury, but has looked dominant in those three appearances. He’s struck out 17 batters over just eight innings pitched, so it’ll be a tall order for the Jays’ young batters to get around on Glasnow’s 100-plus MPH fastball. Tune in for the 7:07 PM ET start. MLB Odds: Rays and Jays Open Three-Game Series at the Rogers Centre

It’ll be the final series of the Toronto Blue Jays’ season, and the young Jays will have a golden opportunity to play the spoiler when they face the playoff-hopeful Tampa Bay Rays beginning this Friday.

Tampa has a one-game lead over the Cleveland Indians for the final Wild Card spot in the AL, so the Rays will be gunning for a three-game sweep to clinch a playoff berth.

The Rays will be in good hands when they send starter Tyler Glasnow (1.92 ERA) to the mound. Since returning from injury in early September, Glasnow has been basically unhittable, striking out 17 batters over eight innings pitched, and allowing just five hits.

The Jays will counter with TJ Zeuch. Catch all of the action, beginning at 7:07 PM ET.
