Rafael Dos Anjos coming back in the welterweight division

in mma •  7 years ago

Rafael dos Anjos was able to secure victory in his main event bout against Robbie Lawler at UFC Fight Night 126. He managed to outstrike the former welterweight champion and secure enough takedowns to win the fight after a hard-fought, five-round fight.

Leg kicks would be what won dos Anjos the fight as he landed many which affected Lawler's mobility. That, along with switching off to landing barrages of punches in the clinch made for a convincing argument to make a fight with current champion Tyron Woodley be next. However, a pending shoulder issue with Woodley could mean we don't see that fight for a while since Woodley mentioned it on UFC Tonight.

But what about Lawler? He's been in the fight game for a while, long enough to have his own resurgance which made him a champion in the UFC. He seems to love fighting too much to stop now, but UFC Winnipeg was nice event to see him fight at. Even though he lost, he never seemed out of the fight completely.

Lawler is a beast! Fighting 3 last rounds one leg and still being dangerous... He is my favourite fighter for sure. Brings it every time.
And Dos Anjos... he is a legit TOP5 welterweight. I did not see it coming. I thought he would have much more trouble hanging with the bigger guys and it would play out like Barao's stint at featherweight. But he proved me wrongfor sure!
