Hey SportsTalkers!

The Brazilian Gracie family had a huge impact on the development of not just BJJ but MMA in general. HΓ©lio and Carlos Gracie were to jiu-jitsu what Einstein was to mathematics. Proving that jiu-jitsu is based on leverage, that a weaker man can beat a bigger man each and every time. One had 21 children and the other had 9 creating their small army of future jiu-jitsu champions. It's a fascinating story and I recommend watching a documentary called "Choke" to really get an inside view.

UFC 1 marked the beginning of the Gracie era that lasted for a while. Today, everybody knows some BJJ before even thinking of stepping into a cage fight. After long years of domination people finally started to get a grip of BJJ and some even became world-class practitioners. The reign of Gracies ended and please correct me if I'm wrong but the Gracie clan members went winless in four UFC appearances dating back from 1994 till now. The clan has a new representative in the UFC.

Meet Kron Gracie

The son of Rickson Gracie, who was only five when his uncle Royce Gracie scored the last win for the family is now the one trying to take over the game for the Gracies once again. Making a very impressive UFC debut back in February VS a talented Alex Caceres who just couldn't deal with the world-class grappling game that Kron brought to the table. Alex was choked out 2 minutes into the fight.

What a time to shine!

Taking it step by step

Kron started pursuing an MMA career back in 2014 after winning everything possible in the BJJ circuit and is now 5-0 heading into his next fight competing at featherweight. I've heard rumors he might be fighting Cub Swanson in October but no official statement just yet from what I know. If this fight was to happen I'll definitely report on it and make a deeper breakdown because it really is an interesting matchup. Cub is a striker who lost the majority of his fights by submission.

On the other hand, Kron still needs to do some work in the striking department if he wants to take on the higher-ranked opponents. Cub is on a 4 fight losing streak and needs this win or I'm sure he's getting cut by the UFC, no matter the opponent. So we might see Cub going for broke which is a very dangerous thing for any man standing across him. I truly hope this fight happens sooner than laterπŸ˜‹

What do Yall think?
