What are some of the different types of TV and video content you watch? Where and how do you watch this content?

I want to say that I am not a picky person when it comes to watching the television or videos. I do not watch too much television at home and when I turn on the TV, it’s a rare occasion for news. I like to watch all types and genres of shows such as Korean Dramas, Cooking Shows , Romantic Dramas, and sometimes Anime. I love to use Instagram to see short video clips from Instagram users. Some of the video platforms that I use to watch my shows include Netflix, Instagram, OnDemand Korea, and random streaming video websites.

How does this compare with how your parents/grandparents watch(ed) TV shows or the way you watched 5 or 10 years ago?

Before I moved to the United States from South Korea, I used to watch the television much more than today. A lot of shows including Korean Dramas, Music Programs, News, and sometimes International Movies, were aired on the television. I did not use or have much streaming services back then. Of course during my parent’s and grandparent’s time, they only used television. At a certain point, they only watched in black and white as well.

What are some of the different methods of watching TV and video content that you are aware of?

As mentioned above and from what I know, there are numerous of sources to receive video content. Some of the big ones include Netflix, Chromecast, Firestick, Apple TV, Cable Time Warner, Direct TV, YouTube and Hulu. There are plenty more websites that utilize streaming and uploading that people can retrieve their video contents from.

What effect do the different methods of watching TV and video content have on how you choose to watch this content?

I want to say that I am very straight forward when it comes to picking my video content and where to get it from. I use Netflix a lot, but it does not have a lot of the Korean shows I am looking for, so I use OnDemand Korea for those. I also use Instagram stories a lot to see random videos from people I follow or that I may like.

How do you think these changes will continue to evolve over the next few years? What are your predictions and why?

I really do not see cable television thriving in the future. So many friends and family members exclaim they do not watch cable TV anymore due to streaming being so accessible. I believe the internet will definitely take over the video content distribution world.
