I hate mobile sites

in mobile •  6 years ago

Is there a way to turn them off and make my phone display desktop sites only.

Mobile sites are annoying on the phone (i have an iPhone X Max) but especially useless on the iPad.

chrome has a “request desktop site” option. however, doesn’t work on all websites.

I used to use atom browser app for this purpose. not sure if it still exists.

If you're using Safari to browse on your iOS device you can request the desktop site

This won't always work but worth a shot in most cases

There is a "Request desktop site" in google chrome settings

For some sites, you can request the desktop version of the site. You do this by tapping the "Share/More Options" button on a page while in Safari on iPhone or iPad. For some sites this will work and will load the appropriate looking site. Now, if the site uses a dynamic framework to change between a desktop and mobile interface, then there's not much you can do to my knowledge. Though turning your iPhone X Max on it's side may cause the desktop version to load, that's not a guarantee I'm afraid. Same with the iPad, turning it on its side should load the full version if requesting the desktop version of the site doesn't work.

You don't do that using your chrome browser, all you need to do is to click on the 3dot at the top corner and come to desktop site and select it. Your browser will change from mobile view to desktop view.

You can check the Require desktop site option in Chrome settings. I recommend that you delete unnecessary programs from evil.

I´m here to learn too. I share the same problem, it´s like, only 1/100 mobile site was actually made for that purpose. All the rest confuses more than it helps (as it is supposed to do).

Good, I hope we get some good answers

Aha I feel the same about them. I always change to desktop version of sites. Mobile sites are not available for full function.

Yep, it’s just annoying to have to do it every time.

Of course there is. Every smartphone has that option. You find it at the setting choose desktop view. Be aware is is not always exactly the same.

There are some browser that have desktops version attached to it as a menu eg. Chrome, Yandex just to name a few. You can try them, they also support extensions too and give an overall good browsing experience. You can try Brave too.

Other then selecting 'request desktop site' in either browser you use i dont know.
This is really funny since i have the opposite. I hate websites that dont have their mobile site version running properly haha. I hate desktop versions on mobile. But what i hate most are mobile sites that dont have some vital abillities that you visit that site for and only the desktop version has those. Dont fool anything eith some fake ass mobile version i think then.
Good luck with your search for the perfect view.

@knircky, I don't use IPhone but i agree with you. Desktop websites or Desktop view is more comfortable than mobile view. Hope that your issue is resolved now. Stay blessed.

I believe this is what will solve your problem- https://www.guidingtech.com/browsers-always-open-desktop-sites-android-ios/
Out of all the 5 browsers listed, I feel Opera is the best bet because of the brand name it carries. If you would have been using an Android device, Brave could have been a good option because of the integrated blockchain and crypto capabilities.

Opera is great, it has a build in vpn server which is pretty good.
Brave ruined it for me since you need to pay sites with tokens to see ads in a browser that claims to be secure and free of ads... You wont earn anything, all the tokens are to be used to pay to others. Unless you do a work around the rules scheme, but they ban button trigger happy when they find out about that.
