Monday Mix Tape. Fantastic Music. UK Bands.

Wolf Alice, Eureka Machines, Hey Hello, Manic Street Preachers, Moriaty

What a fantastic idea by @hardikv.

You choose 5 songs and write about why you love them.

I will probably be the one to choose the loud ones. You want to rock! I'm your man.

This week I will choose 5 British acts.

  1. Make a post with #mondaymixtape as your first tag
  2. Post links to 5 songs you like
  3. Tell us why you like them. Point out features that surprised you, stuff you learnt from the song, etc etc.

Let's get on with the music

1. Wolf Alice: Beautifully Unconventional

My favourite new band at the moment. If you are missing 90s music, then you need to be listening to Wolf Alice. There is no one song that sums up their sound. This one had a more pop feel to it. But behind it, is the Wolf Alice attitude. This song is taken from their second album, "Visions Of A Life." from 2017.

2. Eureka Machines: Brainwaves

Class pop punk. Black shirts, white ties. This is taken from their fourth album, "Brainwaves," 2015. This group are brilliant and should be much bigger than they are. The lead man, Chris Catalyst is often seen playing with both Ginger and CJ from The Wildhearts. All their albums are great. A perfect blend of attitude and melody.

3. Hey Hello: Swimwear

Continue with the pop punk theme and Ginger Wildheart. This is his pop punk project, Hey Hello. This song is taken from their 2013 self titled album. The singer is Victoria Liedtke, who had been appearing on Ginger Wildheart solo albums. They departed ways the following year, but left us with an amazing album of infectious guitar pop music. I love to play it before a night out.

4. Manic Street Preachers : Distant Colours

Last week, I posted "International Blue," from their forthcoming album, "Resistance Is Futile." This song feels a bit different, sounding 1960s inspired. That is no bad thing. This band have lasted nearly 30 years for a reason. They are supreme songwriters and musicians. Go listen.

5. Moriaty: Bones

An amazing band from Devon, England. I hope they get big. They are so entertaining live. A big sound for 2 musicians. Here, they get a little help from Chris Wolstenholme from Muse. This is a single from 2015. It has not appeared on any album yet.

I hope you enjoyed these wonders.

I love this idea and there will be more music to come. Keep rocking.
