The Bible often tells us about riches and money. There is a wealth that is well established, well built, and another that is not, the Bible explains this with a proverb: "Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow" Proverbs 13:11.
The concept of progressiveness is fundamental in all things in life and if we want to prosper we have to apply this idea to money as well. We could say that money calls money, that is why saving is so important. But we have to always have something clear, money is not an end in itself but a means to achieve more important things like the good life and wellness, the greed is the best way to ruin our lives, the miser is mean to himself: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness" 1 Timothy 6:10-11.
Success in life cannot be measured only by the money we have: "Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment" 1 Timothy 6:17.
An example of this is the parable of the foolish rich man (Luke 12:16-21), money does not guarantee the life of a man.
A clear example in the Bible of how we should proceed with riches was King Solomon who first sought the justice and wisdom of God and as a consequence, God increased his wealth. Wisdom and wealth always go hand in hand, because wealth is the product of the right decisions in life.
Is there any general principle in the bible to be blessed with money and riches? Yes, the fear of God. The fear of God is constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity, stability. It is through constancy in a life project that we progress in life, also through devotion we acquire wisdom and instruction which enables us to face the challenges of life. As the Bible teaches us, the true foundation of money is the fear of God.
