The Biggest Scam In 2018

in money •  6 years ago

Hello, Let me introduce myself, I have been a entrepreneur for the last 3 years specifically focusing on internet activities. Back in 2016 this was basically the birth of E commerce which if you don't know is using social media platforms and other online ways to sell merchandise and items. Well, without much knowledge or skill I dabbled into selling stuff online via Facebook ads and Instagram ads and wow something amazing happened.. I started making money and lots of it. I was making around 1k+ a day

THE METHOD (2016)

Pick literally any item for Aliexpress which is a Chinese whole sale site which you can buy stuff for like 50% the retail price in the USA, I used watches

I would buy a watch for 2 dollars from Aliexpress and don't get me wrong these watches were super good looking

then I would sell the watches on my online shopify store which took me like a day to setup for 10$.
to get traffic I would run facebook ads and about 5$ worth of ads would make me 10$ in profit..
so as you can see shopify was amazing.

Well moving to 2018 people starting learning about this and the competition got crazy! literally everyone was doing this and because of that stuff no longer sold. Now if you try running a facebook ad for watches you will spend 10$ and lose 10$ proving this method no longer works.

THE SCAM
Old shopify gurus and people similar to myself started seeing that they couldn't sell shopify products and make money anymore so what they did was built hype around shopify on YouTube and Instagram and started selling guides instead. They promise they can make you 1k a day etc all you have to do is find "secret items" that work and you will make bank. Well sorry to say nothing will work anymore because of companies like Amazon and Walmart and the only reason they are selling guides instead of doing the method themselves is because the method no longer works and the only money you will get is tricking people into buying guides.
this is also very sad because a lot of these people spend months and days trying to learn this stuff and keep being told its their fault they are not making money but its just the scam working its way.

EXCEPTIONS : If you have big FREE traffic sources like an Instagram with 100k+ followers but then you could sell anything and make money.

So guys, don't buy these guides and stay safe out there.

I do not think it is a scam. It is actually something creative of those gurus like you (as you say so) to think about it. Selling guides is not a scam but it is like selling textbooks for school. The only difference is how the learning on those guides or textbooks are put into action.

If the competition is tougher, it is not the guide seller's fault. That is on the part of the buyer to do market research before putting up the business.

interesting points, but its the ones who promise you will make money which is like 80% of them.

Everyone and every company that sells something will tell the prospective buyers that they buyers will gain something good from the merchandise. That is common sense. Have you ever encountered any seller who tells you something bad about his or her products?
