According to Sternberg, creative people can be considered a person who aspires and is able to "buy" ideas at a low price and "sell" them at high prices. Under the "purchase" of ideas, one should understand here the development of unknown, unpopular and unacknowledged ideas, a reliable assessment of their development potential and analysis of demand. A creative person, regardless of resistance, rejection and misunderstanding of the environment, will always put emphasis on the development of certain ideas, increasing their value and price and the subsequent "sale." And as soon as one idea is successfully developed and its demand in the market is increased, it will immediately take up the next new or unpopular idea. But from here follows the following problem - this is the generation of ideas.

According to Robert Sternberg, the creative potential of a person can not be realized in the following two situations (it is important to say that in the presented case Sternberg replaces the manifestation of creativity in its evaluation and acceptance by society):

If ideas are expressed by a person prematurely
If ideas are not discussed for a long time, as a result of which they become obsolete or obvious
According to the ideas of the scientist, the creative manifestations of a person can be determined through six fundamental factors:

Human intelligence as its ability
Human knowledge
Man's thinking style
Individual features of a person
Human Motivation
The external environment surrounding the person
The basis of creative thinking and creativity is intellectual ability. And more specifically, certain components of the intellect:

The ability to synthesize - an unusual vision of problems, overcoming customary, generally accepted boundaries;
Ability to analyze - the ability to identify ideas that should be developed;
Practical ability is the ability to convince people of the value of specific ideas, in other words - the ability to sell.
However, one should take into account the following points: if the person has the most developed ability to analyze, he can be considered an excellent critic, but not a generator of ideas.
