HTC Exodus 1 blockchain-based
phone launched, can be bought only
using Bitcoins
HTC Exodus 1 is the world’s one of the first blockchain-
based smartphones. Here are its top features.
HTC's Exodus 1 comes with a secluded area kept separate from the Android operating system
it runs on to keep a customer's cryptocurrency safe.
The blockchain-based phone is part of HTC's shifting strategy regarding smartphones, which
will prioritize software and intellectual property.
It is available for pre-order at a price of 0.15 bitcoins or 4.78 ether tokens, which translates
to about $960, and is expected to be shipped by December.
Blockchain phones are finally becoming a reality! HTC became the world’s first major
smartphone brand to launch a commercial blockchain phone, HTC Exodus 1. The
device not only paves way for a larger decentralised network for blockchain but also
for peer-to-peer cryptocurrency exchange.
The Taiwanese phone maker said it developed its own cryptocurrency wallet called
Zion to make its new phone function as a hardware cryptocurrency wallet.
The HTC Exodus 1 is a blockchain-based phone with the company's own proprietary
Zion crypto wallet inside. And unsurprisingly, you can buy it or rather pre-order it
only using Bitcoins or Ethereum. HTC has launched the Exodus 1 at a price of 0.15
Bitcoins or 4.78 Ethereum tokens which roughly translates to Rs 70,488 or $960 but
considering how volatile the cryptocurrency market is, you can't actually put a pin to
it. HTC will start shipping the phone in December.
The design and hardware specs largely remains the same as the U12+. The
translucent flavour will, just as it is in the case of the U12+, let you have a sneak-
peak inside the phone so you can probably marvel at its innards.
