Good tips!
I would add - stop drinking juice and sodas altogether and drink water. They are high in calories and sugar with little or no nutritional value.
Also look out for community gardens that have trees where the fruit is free for anyone to pick. Search online for a website listing resources in your area.
IN NZ, we have "Best By" labels and "Use By" labels. Food will often be good far past the Best By, but be a bit more careful with Use By.

These are great tips! Thanks for sharing! I have been using the app Flipp and shopping at Walmart doing price matching and it has saved me quite a bit... asking a neighbor for food... I wish I had that courage! ha :)

Wow thanks for the extra tips lol. I'll have to check out Flipp

This all looks delicious. I'm on my last day of a three day crash diet :-0 Tomorrow I start regular eating. I will however be eating less :-)

Thats good at least! A crash diet sounds difficult.

Thank you. A lot of stores have a marked down section of things about to run into their use by date. Doesn't hurt to check there and see if there is anything you would buy, that can be frozen.

Exactly! Frozen food isn't the freshest but it's better than nothing to eat XD

Thanks Checking out BigOven now...

Wooo hooo! I love it :)

Good advice, even better cut your credit cards up :)

Agreed :) You can do that too !

Some great advice but instead of asking neighbours, you can ask stores/butchers/delis for expired/expiring produce. Just tell them its to feed street animals or for some similar purpose (this is more popular in Europe than North America for obvious reasons).

I had no idea aboutthis!! Thank you for telling everyone!!
