I remember selling everything I had bar 3 items at least a couple of times in my childhood. I think there is an element in me of not wanting to be intoxicated by consumerism. You're right about flexibility too. Spending the best part of the day commuting 2 hours to and from working a job you don't particularly like does not appeal to me whatsoever. Trading it all for a retirement at 70 when you can spend your final years hobbling around and visiting all those places you fantasised about. No thanks. I love the empowerment that saving can provide. The options are endless if you spend less than you earn. Good article @calaber24p
