IS MONEY THE ONLY THING STEEMIT BLOGGERS CARE ABOUT?!

Is it all about the money?

I have noticed that a lot of Steemit-users seem to be blogging only for the money. I feel this is a concerning trend we should act upon as this weakens the Steemit-platform, Steemit-community and especially the Steemit-content.

STEEMITMONEY.jpg

In my opinion quality must always take precedence over quantity!

contentisking.jpg

Why am I saying this?

  • I notice some bloggers publish articles that don't include a single phrase without grammatical errors...
  • I notice some bloggers publish up to 5 to 10 articles on a single day, not caring about the quality of their content, only caring for their upvotes and views...
  • I notice a lot of people litterally copy paste whole articles...
  • I notice a lot of people partly steal content, not even trying to rewrite it or add their personal opinion...
  • I notice some bloggers upload their articles without even trying to make it nice to read and look professional; they use no markdown styling at all, they want a quick buck, that's it...

Remember that life is not only about money, life is more...

Remember that your readers are your customers... Your customers are kings!

  • Example given:
When a customer enters my store and wants to buy a bottle of water, I will not sell him only half a bottle or a bottle without a shell. Also I will not sell him a bottle which belonged to someone else. NO! I will sell him a new fresh bottle of water which he will enjoy and have absolutely no complaints about.

Steemit offers people the opportunity to interact with other people, share your personal stories or useful information and build a network while doing this. Steemit allows you to educate yourself reading articles about all sorts of topics written by people from around the world and yes there is also money to be made, but money should not be your primary goal!

95% of Blogs are doomed before they even start!

Why?

  • They don't set personal goals
  • They don't interact with people
  • They don't publish quality content
  • They copy paste articles
  • They post too much articles (greed)
  • They lack the correct mindset
  • They don't have a niche

These are errors I don't want to commit. I'm making sure that I do interact with everyone I follow but to be careful on the things that I post. I want to make sure I put in the value in my post to make people at least smile.

Your writing is very true and straight to the point.

Though, unless the community changes then I feel the same behaviour will continue to happen.

Thanks for posting what alot of people are thinking.

Thank you and I think you are absolutely right.
For this to happen the community needs to change but we are a part of the community.
I feel if we each do our fair share we might be able to achieve this and overall quality of work will improve over time, hopefully :-)

The community is growing fast and this brings in new unexperienced writers everyday,
it's important for them to understand quality will be valued more than quantity.

This is my opinion, if you disagree you may always say so.

Cheers!

Dude, exactly. Haha. I'm so sick of these damned plagiarizers.

Cash is secondary. The main goal is to bring great content to a decentralized SM platform!

For some people to stop plagiarizing, there will always be new people starting to plagiarize. This is probably something we really can't fix but Cheetah bot is definitely doing a nice job finding them.
I do find it kinda weird tho that Cheetah bot upvotes plagiarizers?
Flagging them would make more sense, right?

Well said. And I still have the feeling that steemit has good content. But I'm not so sure it will be this way once it hits mainstream. But who knows, I didn't believe wikipedia would become what it is either.

Very true, a lot of noobs keep flowing in everyday, it will be hard to educate all of them...
Surely eventually they will all realise they need to improve their posting quality to become succesful.
I will be trying to send them in the right direction!

I myself have been delegating over this dilemma, as someone who has never done anything remotely close to blogging I feel like I might make some mistakes as I find my type of blogging style but I will definitely be trying my hardest to not make any of these mistakes.

Dont worry, theres lot of new people on here who have never blogged before ;-)

Hmm you make a fair point I haven`t been here long enough to really have a say in this but I came over from youtube ( I still upload there too) and some users there would only do stuff there just to make quick cash. Or use tactics such as click bait etc. I am aware one can make $ on steemit and I like that neat feature but for me I post because I enjoy doing so and love sharing what I do with others to possibly enjoy. the $ is just a side bonus and I am in no rush to get a bunch as I am aware it takes time. So I post here with the mindset of just doing what I enjoy and hopefully others may enjoy said stuff along with me uh if that makes any sense heh.

I'm the same way ... I'm a youtube transplant too. I love the idea of making money but more so I want people to actually value my content.

Ah you are from youtube too? Wow I am shocked at just how many youtubers are over here is like ever since they did there recent changes to their partner program screwing mostly smaller channels I have been seeing many here. It makes me wonder just how many of us here are from youtube or use both youtube and here.

and yes that is the way to go about it I get most joy seeing people enjoying and having fun watching the videos I post I just love seeing nice comments from people when they leave them on my videos it brings a smile to my face everytime. What type of content do you mainly do in youtube? I run a rather small retro gaming channel I mainly specialize in showing gameplay of various different games and I am hoping to find growth with what I do here aswell. So I will be migrating a good chunk of what I had done on youtube to here. And later down the line start doing some videos just for this platform.

I'm gonna keep posting to youtube and dtube for a while, since my friends and family mostly use youtube despite my best efforts to get everyone over here. I'm a musician and I do a little weekly vlog series about trying to get a sustainable living as a musician.

Ah that is good to hear yeah it is best you keep uploading to youtube aswell because if you have a larger following there if possible you can mention steemit or leave links so that way you can make a portal for here from youtube to get a following and leave your youtube here for the same affect get people here to see your youtube etc. It is indeed hard tho to convince others to join here I have been trying too with a few friends of mine and boy is it tough. Oh you do music and vlogs!? That is great! ah I hope you keep going and I wish you luck wit your path of music!

You are doing great and you have the right mindset in my opinion. :-)

As long as you enjoy posting and write articles or comments with value and a strong opinion, gaining followers and growing a community will go smoothly. Yes it does take time but I already notice your writing efforts on my blog and I'm sure others will notice the same on theirs.

Keep Steeming my friend!

Ah thanks so much! that I shall do! keep on posting here! I am really loving it here everyone is just so kind here I have gotten so much warm welcomes and kind words from everyone here so far and I have only been here a short while. I feel much more better here starting out than I did on youtube when I began there it was pretty much in there and nothing else after so felt sorta all on my own there and not as encouraged but here? Wow is it different! And that makes for much more fun and enjoyment to be had! Whats more this site is still growing and changing since is still in beta there is something about watching the foundations of a site slowly form.

I am enjoying seeing different communities here grow and expand even the gaming portion of this site is ever so growing :D its all of it is nice. You keep posting too dont give up! you give great insight into crypto stuff I feel many new people like myself will benefit greatly from learning stuff from posts like this!

Mostly, yes.

Nice comment and yes that is very well-said.

Ofcourse everyone loves to benefit from situations or opportunities, but I feel sad seeing the quality of the content suffering under these circumstances. Don't members realise qualitative articles will be appreciated more than a bunch of shitty articles? To me it makes sense.

That's why I'm trying everyday to improve my articles and my way of writing.

Thanks for the support!

Well there's one thing for sure, if I was here for the money I could do better collecting tin cans along the roadside. Or shining shoes on the street corner.
No, I am here for the fun of communicating with people who have interest and knowledge in the things that I enjoy.
I agree that it's a shame that a lot of users are just here for the money and couldn't care less about the quality of their content. Or honesty, or creativeness, pride, etc. It's all about "show me the money".
I am glad @maxdigi that we know better!

Nice comment, I appreciate it and yes luckily we know better.
Hopefully people see the light and know what to do in the future, care to resteem? ;-)

I have hit that follow button on your account, hope I will see your content on my feed soon!

Cheers!

Currently I see a greater use for dtube and the meme site (I forget the name) that are attached to Steem than the blog section. You are 100% correct, bots manipulating votes, people posting crap or copy and paste from other sites or just posting a link to an article with no commentary.

For what Steem is currently, there is a lot to be desired, (basically a lot of what reddit offers only with money :)) but I guess that is where the big difference is, people can make a ton of money on youtube and other photo sites. Their activity on those sites is almost purely driven by what will get them more views, likes, shares whatever will result in more money ...

I agree with you, use Steem as your platform for what you are passionate about and any money made is just a bonus!

Awesome comment and I could not agree with you more:
The satisfaction of getting attention, creating a community and receiving (hopefully positive) feedback on my content is already amazing; any money made will be gladly welcomed, but it will not be the main goal of our blogs!

Again thanks for the comment & resteem, loving the interaction on Steemit!

Great article @maxdigi! I've been here long enough to confirm what you are saying is true and we share a lot of the same concerns :-)

We will see what the future brings, we can only make the best of it! :-)

Thanks for your comment!

I agree with this! I make no money right now on Steemit but I still post everyday. With the goal of improving each of my post as I go. Not just for me but also for all of Steemit.

I very much agree with you and absolutely wish people did take the time to create their own articles as well as make sure what they write is articulated well and researched deeply enough to ensure accuracy.

That being said, it is nice to see all view points even from those who do not have English as their primary language. Also from those who did not have the chance to complete school. I like to hear from everyone even when they have trouble relating what they are thinking.

Plagiarism is simply nasty, but re-posting articles from other sites with a link to the source seems to fill a very nice gap in assuring Steemit contains a very large set of all that is going on in the world --- all in one place.

Just my two cents (or 25)
Craig

I just made a post about how to better curate content on any platform, especially Steemit. I'd love your feedback.

I think what you've said is dead on. Furthermore, the more stake you have in the platform, the less effort required by you in the creation process to make money. So long as there is value that can be earned by creating content for all, those that exert little effort in their content will continue to be rewarded regardless of there effort.

I think the solution is a more detailed breakdown in the way we enumerate quality of content and the value we feel content brings. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that.

I think this is a big reason as to why I haven't mass-followed a lot of people. I love the idea of a community of quality content ... That's one of the things that really drew me to steemit because I'm a musician that's frustrated with the mainstream.

Word!

Interesting post.

Where there are money - there will be people who try to get them without an effort. Hopefully as platform grows curation logic will become better, until it's unprofitable to spend time on such a nonsense as copy-paste articles.

Awesome post. I couldn't agree more... 90+% of the content I've seen here is very low in quality/effort investment. But you'd have to think that there will be absolutely no monetary benefit in posting junk, and that the system will eventually filter out such people. (Although there will always be a steady flow of incomers.)

I fully agree with you. Steemit should not be seen as a money making place but as a platform where aspiring writers can share their opinions and also enhance their knowledge. But to be frank, I don't have much followers because I am new to the community and I want some. Well, not for earning money through upvotes but to know everyone's opinions and feedbacks. And if anyone upvotes me it will be a matter of pride for me and I will be inspired to post more quality writings.

You are saying the fact. Life is more than just the boy. @luminous1 please follow and comment. I am new.

No Steem Power is the most important :D
