Poshmark is an app that you can download on your phone to buy and sell clothing and accessories. You can also use it on your computer, if you don't have a smartphone or want to use the app, but the app is so much easier. Have you heard of the Poshmark app? I have to admit, last fall when I heard about it, I was super skeptical. I am always skeptical of new things at first. In fact, I signed up and downloaded it, which was all free, no need for a credit card or bank account, it looked legit, but did not use it until 6 months later. Poshmark started in 2011, so it does have some history and isn't brand new.
What I did, is start listing some different items for sale, things that we were no longer wearing, and little by little, I started to sell some. It was super easy to take the pictures with my phone and post the items for sale. Poshmark basically walks you through the listing process step by step in the app and it only takes a few minutes to have your item up for sale.
I needlessly worried about shipping. They make this so easy. When someone makes a purchase, Poshmark will email you a shipping label. You can print this on a regular piece of paper and tape it to any box or mailing envelope, put it in your mailbox to be picked up or take it to the post office. The white and red Priority mail boxes and envelopes at your local post office are free, and you are able to use these with the Poshmark labels. It is a bit of a "thing" on Poshmark to make your packages look nice. Use a ribbon, thank you card, maybe some white tissue paper if you have it, make it look somewhat nice. Easy peasy.
After your item arrives to the buyer, they can give you a rating and your portion of money will be added to your account (Poshmark takes 20% out for their fee). No need to worry if buyer doesn't accept item or rate, Poshmark will eventually add the proceeds to your account.
Now you have money in your Poshmark account. You can make purchases using this money. Get yourself a new outfit, or buy some clothes for your growing kids like I did. Keep in mind, you still have not given Poshmark any bank account information or credit card information. The only thing you have donated is a small amount of time, and some clothing that you didn't wear anymore.
If you end up selling a lot and do not need new clothes, Poshmark will send you the cash. You have the option of linking your bank account and receiving a direct deposit, however, this is still not required. Put in your name and address and they will mail you a paper check. How great is that? You will get money, and still not have to give up any credit card or bank account information. Myself, by the time I had a balance of $110.51, decided to just go ahead and put my bank information in so that I could get a direct deposit into my account. Poshmark deposited the money as I requested, no problems at all.
Unfortunately, Poshmark is currently only available to those who live in the United States. I have heard rumors that they are trying to expand to other countries, but who knows. If you live in the US, I highly recommend giving it a try. You have nothing to lose except an item or two of used clothing. If you kindly sign up with my code HUCKLEPLANET you will receive $5 off your first order.
Happy Poshing, let me know if you try this and like it. I would also be glad to answer any questions.
Love,
Marie
