About a few months back I received a call from the credit card department of HSBC. The offer was, spend $SGD100 and redeem a movie card that was worth 10 tickets. I thought hmm I needed to buy some groceries and my son loves transformers.. DING! A light bulb switches on in my head.
I did a quick calculation. In Singapore a movie ticket for adults on the weekend cost 💲SGD 13. 10 tickets would cost 💲130. Spend 💲100 dollars to get 💲130 of tickets?!

Now people before you go signing up for the latest credit card thinking you just won the lottery, always remember to check all the fine print. I called up HSBC bank again and made sure that $100 dollars could be spent on almost anything and I mean really anything. I even asked if I could buy staples, pencils, erasers and pens or my office needs...(never hurts to be too careful 😉) Next I checked that all 10 tickets could be exchanged for movies during peak hours including public holidays and weekend. You know these banks can be pretty sneaky...
With all the details checking out I simple went to the website https://www.hsbc.com.sg/1/2/personal/cards
Click on the card I liked and followed the online instructions. In singapore its very easy to sign up for credit cards. All you need is your Identity card and 2 years of Tax returns which you can download easily from our government's tax portal. 3 days later the card appears in my mail box. Took it to the supermarket and bought the groceries I needed, paid my credit card bill of $100 in full and the following month my movie card came. YEAH!
And off we went to the cinema. My little boy was super excited, he ran through the mall to the ticketing booth.
Here is him bursting with excitement...haha
We got seated, I sneaked in some Mac Donalds for our dinner hehe. 🍟🍔
