I'd like to share a little known fact with yall. The major brands we use every day are also SUED EVERY DAY. Often times, the lawsuit affects every consumer of that product or brand. These can be from false advertising, exaggeration of fact, unfounded medical properties, safety features, you name it! They are called Class Action Lawsuits, and almost everyone is a member to a few in some form or another, whether you know it or not.
A good example of this is Red Bull. Remember all those ads on tv, radio, and the internet that said " Red Bull gives you wings!"? Wonder where they went? Well, someone sued Red Bull because after purchasing it, they did not, in fact, "get wings!"
As absurd as this sounds, every member of the lawsuit(anyone who purchased Red Bull in the specified dates) was entitled to $4.50 per 4 pack of Red Bull, up to $18 WITHOUT proof of purchase.
Why would companies agree to give out money like this? Well, a few reasons. Ultimately, it's cheaper to delegate $50,000 toward a lawsuit and just allow the class members to split it and be done with the expense and hassle. When they agree to a class action 'rebate', often times the company will include some sort of wording in the contract that goes like " Company XYZ admits no wrong doing, but is paying sum $$$ to avoid further legal expenses and strain on reputation. Lawsuit party agrees to drop charges and accepts no wrong doing by company XYZ" or so.
This allows the company to save face and expense, and quells the lawsuit before it goes to court and potentially costs a lot of money. Since they officially were not guilty of any wrong doing, their insurance companies have a harder time raising their rates as well.
A good website I use to find out about these is
https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/open-lawsuit-settlements/
There are many, many websites that help you get started. It normally takes a few months from the time you apply until you receive your settlement, but hey, if you never check the site you have no idea how much of YOUR money you're passing up.
My biggest claim ever was for a trigger malfunction on a rifle I bought. The check was for $175, and I fixed the malfunction by adding a screw to the assembly myself.
I'm currently waiting on a $900 settlement from a set of Disney Cruise robocalls I received a few years ago!
As a reminder, only claim what you are entitled to. I am in no way advocating you lie on any official legal document. It is illegal to claim you are a class participant if you are not. If you are unsure, contact a lawyer. I am not a lawyer and do not claim to be a lawyer.
I just want to share this valuable information with you!
