I always experiment and look for interesting and productive Smartphone Apps.

Many claim to be great and some even claim to get you free money. Unfortunately we all have to be smart enough and figure out what works and what doesnt.

In the past few months I have tried two of the most talked about apps for simple saving of money.

The Apps are called Qapital & Digit.

I have personally used both of them and have a preference now between the two.

Well both apps do what they say they do. Here is a short breakdown of both.

DIGIT:

I tried and used Digit first and used it for a few months. What it did for me was that it took a small amount every two to three days out of my bank account and put it in a Digit savings account.

The account is like a normal bank account, insured etc.

The amounts taken out every few days were $2, $4 or $5 within that range. It was nice because the savings are automatic and you dont even have to think about it.

It does it on its own and within a month or so you have a $100 or so at your disposal or more.

The App calculates the amounts it takes out depending on how much money you have in your account etc. Thats what the company says.

You can set up goals you save for such as rent, car payment etc as well.

It was great because you dont feel any of the small amounts being taken out and you still save decent cash.

The huge drawback of this app is that it use to be free and now it has a monthly fee.

Im saving small amounts of money and I still have to pay a fee ? I didnt like that.

QAPITAL

My nephew introduced me to this App.

This instantly became my favorite and I closed down Digit.

The Qapital app first of all has many different ways to save you money.

  • One is that when you hook up your checking account and use a debit card it rounds off your amount to the nearest dollar and saves you those small amounts every single time you use your debit card.

I use my debit card a lot and the amounts come out to like $10 to $15 every week.

  • Another option with this is that you can set a goal amount like $10000 and set the app up to save you a set amount you want, for example $50 every single week.

This is nice because everyone has a different budget and if you set an amount you are comfortable with then you save exactly the amount that you want.

  • Another way you can save in Qapital is Manually. At any time you can send an amount you have extra to the savings in Qapital in addition to what its saving you already.

You can do that in Digit too but there is a fee for Digit.

Qapital is 100% free to use forever. No hidden fees or anything else.

Qapital also has a Debit card which you can use to pay for things with the money directly from the Qapital Checking Account.

That is my overview of the two best apps to help save you money.

I think both work great but Qapital for me is better, has many more ways to save and its 100% FREE.

The links to both apps Im putting down below for your convenience.

I hope I was able to help.
