Do you often agree to buy what you actually dont need?
Or maybe some people can easily influence you without your wish?
Let's examine some popular ways how we can appear under the control of tricky sellers and rogues.
1. The rule of mutual exchange
The manipulator offers you a "gift", after which it offers something to buy, or perform a certain action. The automatic reaction forces you to agree to his offer, even if the size of your costs is clearly inadequate to his gift.
Example: the Krishnas in the street will not be asked directly for donations - they first give you a flower or a book (absolutely unnecessary to you), and then they will say that in return you can repay them by making a donation.
2. Assignment agreement
The way of manipulation: the manipulator raises an obviously overstated demand, and then "agrees to a concession", while its goal is just the second requirement. You feel the need to agree (based on the rule of mutual exchange), because you have done a favor and conceded.
Example: expensive boutiques first put inflated prices, and then announce discounts.
We see it all the time right?)
3. Commitment and consistency.
you are prompted to commit an act, the logical continuation of which will be the subsequent act desired by the manipulator.
Test-drive of cars is made just for better sales)
4. The principle of social proof
According to this principle, we correctly consider the behavior that other people often show in a similar situation.
Such phrases in advertising are used not just for fun) - "millions of people have already tried the X product", "hundreds of reviews on our website", etc. They make us pay attnetion and buy!
5. Blessing
we most willingly agree to fulfill the requirements of those we know or like.
when a man wants to sell smth he may easily use the name of a person we know and like to make us buy it - your friend Gautam has already bought it, so you'll like it as well!
6. Obedience to authorities
in the process of education, a habit is created for obedience to authorities, and this habit is very persistent, and completely unconscious.
If an engineer advices us a good dish we can ignore it but if the best chef-cooker does it, we will listen for sure!
7. Principle of deficiency
Example: "who will pay for training before 12 o'clock will get a 25% discount", the number of new iphone 5 is limited - you can raise the price two or three times.
These are examples from life and we all see they really happen and work)
