We were happy to find "Cervantes" one of five etchings from the Spanish Immortals series that Dali crafted. The Collectors Guild released this etching and provided the stamped Certificate of Authenticity that is attached to the back of the frame. The image is signed by Dali in the plate. The matte measures approximately 14"x 11". The image from engraving plate measures approximately 6-3/4"x 4-3/4".
Long tail items such as art, antiques, books and other items do pay off. We found this Dali in a thrift store. Paid $20 for this Salvador Dali and sold it 6 months later for $240.00 shipped.
The key is to have diverse inventory that formulate a balance of long term sales, short term sales, and items that fall in between selling at a moderate rate. Having a diverse inventory with this kind of mixture, you will get the full benefits and see consistent sales. Eventually you will build enough long tail that it starts selling itself at a certain pace.
Long tail for us is 6 months to just over a year. Around 65 -70% of our income comes from long tail sales, it has worked for us. Mostly selling antiques, art, and hard to find items. The nice thing with slow selling items, it's like a steam engine, hard to get going, but once you have enough of them, you will still be making money a year from now.
Keep listing, soon you will have your system in place. Try starting out with a few items and see how it works out for you. Your initial investment will be tied up for a while, make sure you have enough buying funds to keep sourcing.
