Sulky oak tree

in monochrome •  7 years ago

I came across this oddity while taking photos the other day. At some stage in the tree's life, there was a cut in the tree's trunk which has healed completely although normally when cuts to the trunk heal, the shape is circular. This one healed as a straight line, giving a "pursed lips" effect

She stood looking at the tree. She swore it had said something. She poked at the lips with a stick.

The lips moved. And spoke again....

"You're in MY forest."

She nearly fell over - the forest was alive. It was something she had suspected but now there was proof. The forest was alive.

I know better than to poke tree lips ;)

:) You never know what'll happen.

Just missing the eyes and it could be a weirwood tree from game of thrones!

hahahaha this is great! It makes you want to touch it to see if its real but at the same time scared to do it because it might come alive.

Is this the one?images-59.jpeg

No, that is a type of oak but the oak trees I was photographing are are English Oaks

Your right it really does look like lips, amazing!

Hi @anthonylj, thanks for the headsup. Do you mean this post or any?

Never seen that before, those that i'v seen are always circular in shape.. Thanks for posting, I don't know not until I read your post

Excellent publication @nikv, I really liked your photo, it is great that nature gives us such fun images and as photographers we can show them to everyone. Congratulations.

If you look at this more closely you will find a nose also.

in first look i found it hard to find but when we look closely it is really amazing that how much it resembles with pursed lips. nice shot

Wouaaa
Looks like a very old tree.
Thank you for this post

Very nice pattern in the bark. It looks like a scar being healed through time.
