Magnolia Blossoms - Springtime - MonochromemondaysteemCreated with Sketch.

One of the things I love about living in Florida, is seeing the magnolia trees blossom in the springtime.

I photographed this image while walking in our neighborhood one spring.

Thanks @alchemage!

In all of my visits to Florida, I don't recall ever seeing a magnolia tree or bush. I've seen them here in Ontario and they have a beautiful scent. Lovely shot @dmcamera!

Thanks! :-) These are not the same magnolias as the ones that grow in cooler climates. I have photos of my kids next to Japanese magnolias in Canada, but these are Magnolia Grandiflora. Some streets are lined with them. They are a symbol of the American South because they only grow in the south eastern United States. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnolia_grandiflora

Ah, I did not know this. I like to watch a tv show called Fixer Upper - know it? The couple are from Waco Texas and their signature is to plant a magnolia at each house they rennovate. I just heard, sadly, that they are not returning to tv - family issues - you know how the gossip goes. I loved their personality and the work they do is amazing.

Back to you ... hehe...you now a lot about plants. Are you a backyard arborist or did you take courses?

Haha. No! I read A LOT! I have been a bookworm all my life. Also, because I have been a stock photographer for over 20 years, I have always had to research every image very carefully before submitting it to the agencies - and with well over 7,000 images on line...... ! The trees planted in Texas would be the same as ours - Magnolia Grandiflora. The blossoms are huge - up to 12 inches in diameter!

You're a stock photographer? Wow. That's amazing! You know your photography then. I'm sure I'll learn a lot from you :)

I'm always learning. :-)
