in monochromemonday •  7 years ago  (edited)

Last weekend i was talking a walk through a huge man made lake park called Benjakitti Park in Bangkok and apart from the beauty of the man made lake and landscaping around this beautiful park i notice this tall statue of a "Coiling Dragon" and i couldn't help but to take a closer look as it intrigues me how they cave out all them fine detailed people and animals out of this probably once just a square stone block.

In Chinese mythology there are nine classical types of dragons and this one is the Coiling Dragon known as the water dragon it is believed that this water dragon has control over water, floods , typhoons and rainfall.

There is a legend of a Carp fish who once saw a mountain and wanted to visit this mountain so the Carp fish was that determined that it swam upstream through rapids and over waterfalls to reach this mountain so when this Carp fish reached this mountain it found a dragon gate blocking his way but been so determined and making all that way through the almost impossible he successfully leaped this gate and become a dragon the legend tells it ...thus today the coiling dragon is strongly regarded as the moving force of waters such as rivers , waterfalls and oceans symbolizing the dragon lords of moving water.

So the legend has it that if you bring a Chinese dragon statue , painting or a calligraphy scroll symbol into your home or office it will provide you with the protection and power of the dragon of which it symbolizes.
