Last week in @monochromemonday i wrote about my Fascinations with Rock Formations that i photographed on the Sydney beaches in Australia , well this week i want to continue my fascinations with valleys of rock mountains a journey that took me to the United States in Utah this i did a few years back.
I have the opportunity here now on Steemit to share these amazing valleys of rock mountain formation that are continuously been shaped and re-shaped as mother nature desires. Mesa Arch i certainly took a liking to this rock formation is a pothole arch in Canyon Lands National Park, Utah it's the most liked and visited rock because it's just has so much character. The Mesa Arch sits on about 150 meter cliff edge and it's like looking through a massive arch window and seeing the whole picture of the Buck Canyon Valley.
We traveled there during the months of spring in America so it wasn't to cold or to hot as i preferred it , this way it just would more comfortable and safer it certainly was the best time of the year to do it as we found the views were more clear you could see for miles and we noticed standing at Mesa Arch way beyond we could see La Sal Mountains we were told that's what they were called well they still had snow on the cap of the mountains that was a bonus.
The Mesa Arch is one of the most visited site attraction in the Canyon Lands National Park mainly because it's got a marked trail to follow and safe for kids the trail runs for about 1 km it will take you to the edge of the plateau and you will see the most amazing views of the canyon and the best spots to do your photographing.
Not to distanced apart at the end of Mesa Arch is what they call the Dead Horse Point State Park of Utah now that's a eerie name years ago many horses were trapped there and with the Colorado river in sight were unable to get there and all died of thirst thus been called that. The Dead Horse Point is about 600 meters above the Colorado River and from there you will get the most magical stunning views of Canyon Lands National Park.
From Dead Horse Point State Park the trail is about 12 km's and connects you to about eight different lookout points which are all worth the effort just breathtaking views and the trail is quite reasonably laid out but keep in mind sturdy footwear is a plus certainly makes hiking less painful and safer cause with some of the uneven slick rocks it can get quite dangerous. A couple of wooded ladders on the trail makes it even more challenging.
Well that was another exciting and educational adventure and i can strike that of my bucket list but who's to say i won't return again with all that beauty out there to see i would go back in a heartbeat.
