This weekend, I ended up being focused on creating designs. On Facebook, I posted a couple of creations that were results of using other people's photos as a starting points and then extended an invitation/challenge to my friends...send me your pics and I'll see what I can come up with. The response was great!
One of the collaborations is a perfect fit for #monochromemonday brought to us by @old-guy-photos. Check out his post and join in the fun.
Ok, let's scroll! (I will walk you through this in a semi-backwards fashion ending by showing you the photo where it all began.)
Once I crop the original picture down to a workable starting point, I create, what I call, a block with my trusty, magical phone app. That block sends me off in all sorts of cool directions. Sometimes, I can get 2 or even 3 blocks from one picture.
This is the first block that emerged. I call it "Feed Me, Seymour!" because it reminds me of the plant in "Little Shop of Horrors."
As I move further into the apps capabilities, it slices and dices then splices the pieces back together. This is an offspring of the first block. It's both lacy and frilly...looks like it could be a close up of an elaborate Vaudeville style corset.
Here is block #2. I see a sinewy, winged insect flying right over my head. What do you see?
The expansion of block #2 gave me this. All of those lines seem to have constructed a little village.
For these last couple of designs, I ventured out of my phone and into Photoshop. Block #3 has had some filter work done. I love how it looks like embossed metal or the tin ceiling tiles of Victorian times!
And finally, the spawn of block #3...pewteresque.
This is the cropped down version of the original photo...the starting point I mentioned before. I have to take into consideration how the elements are going to expand. I am getting much better at having an idea of the results before I start...that's pretty cool! I'm actually becoming the "girl with kaleidoscope eyes!"
Here is my friend, Catherine's, original photo...her little garden in front of her apartment. When I first saw the photo, I thought this was going to be a tough one. Once I found the starting point, the rest flowed forth quite easily. I was surprised to have gone the black and white route but I'm so glad I did. The results are fascinating!
That was quite the evolution!!! Well done!

Your art is amazing and again you are making me look into the kaleidoscope with awe.
I like the most the second one.
Later I will look for a picture to send you.
