Monochrome Monday the Vessel

Vertigo Warning - this is another post where people who suffer from vertigo may want to skip as it is looking down shots, I know my wife can't look at these, she walked in when I was editing one of these shots and felt terrible seeing it

Starting with a shot that hopefully, won't make anyone feel dizzy A view looking across while up the stairs in the vessel

I did another post with similar shots of the Vessel here in color for this post however, I am going with other shots edited in Mono for Monochrome Monday hosted by @old-guy-photos A challenge I try to join as often as I can, the other challenges he hosts are Sepia Saturday and Tree Tuesday, all fun challenges and worth checking out.

The Vessel which is also sometimes called the Hudson yards staircase is part of the redevelopment that has taken place in the Hudson Yards area of NYC, The concept for Vessel was revealed in 2016. Construction started in April 2017. The structure topped out in December 2017 and opened on March 15, 2019.

its a honeycomb-like structure ( which when I first saw it I thought it looked like a beehive, that rises 16 Stories and has 154 flights of stairs, 2500 Steps and 800 landings and was designed by British designer Thomas Heatherwick.

And a shot looking up when you enter the Vessel

This next shot is taken looking down from the top of the vessel at one of the buildings in Hudson Yards, I am not sure exactly what it is but it looks like some sort of structure over the building on Wheels I am not sure if it actually moves or not as it has been in this position each time I have visited the area

And a view also from the top looking down towards the Hudson River with the Hudson yards tracks full with trains

And finishing off with possibly the worst shot for people who suffer from vertigo, Looking down the center of the vessel.

Wow, the vessel looks cool in monochrome editing. I have no vertigo, so my favorite is the last one - looking down! It's terrific!

Thanks I think I preferred the MOno shots of it, and that last shot is my Favorite of these ones as well :)

Because it is really COOL :D

I think So , actually used a color version of the first shot for a project I am doing and will share once it arrives that I think is crazy cool

Wow, look forward to know what is the project about and to see the photo edition!

It’s nothing big But I am so looking forward to getting it and of course will no doubt do a post about them :)

I will try to not miss it

Oh, that is a long way up. The Vessel is really fascinating, does it actually serve a purpose or is it just for amazing photos like these?

Posted using Partiko Android

Well I guess it gives people exercise shut i think its main purpose is to draw people t this new area and into the shops in the building beside it

Great shots Jay!

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

It is so amazing what can be built and the money and time wow... great monochrome shots.

Ohh yeah a 200 Million climbing sculpture, it is very cool but so many other ways the money could have been more effectively used

Wow!!! Those are some crazy photos!!! ♥♥♥
I love them! ♥
But - I can't watch them for a longer period of time as I start feeling dizzy.
Yes, I'm one of those few ones who suffer from vertigo. Can't help it.

Sorry the photos affect you my wife also cannot look at them even beifly

Love your monochrome Monday shots. I get vertigo from time to time, and seasick on boats and roller coasters. But I can't say that looking at pictures effects me much. I was careful not to look too long though just in case, so thanks for the warning. So you climbed all those stairs to get that shot from the top of the Vessel?

Oh yes I climbed up tot he top, it was a fun climb, I have a friend who can look at the Mono ones no problem but the color ones really affect him

Staircase is a crazy cool design to photograph, looks stunning in mono. Thanks for sharing this amazing photography.

Thanks I loved the color shots but when I edited others for this post in Mono I realized I much prefer these mono versions

Going to have to play around a lot more in mono on camera, find it very dark although contrast is good. Have never edited into mono perhaps something more to look into.

Your mono photography always captures great contrast pleasing to the eye.

Trail and error is the best way to learn
All of my mono photos were shot in color and edited to mono that gives me more options on what I can do with them

Wonderful shots of an amazing subject matter. You are so lucky to have access to it. This was my favorite shot,

Isn’t it such a cool thing
That shot was my favorite of the mono images
Of the color ones I liked the first one and used it for a little project I did will share that when it is delivered
