I am not sure this is sufficiently difficult to identify to be fully abstract, but I love the shapes and texture too much to worry about it.
They're actually buds on a hollyhock in our garden. They look pretty weird in real life also but in black and white and in macro, they become so much more fascinating. The shapes and the fine hairs make me think of a cactus with long narrow thorns.
