#Monomad Photo Essay - A Walk around Docklands, Melbourne, Australia

The urge to take photos is strong, often if I lost for something to do, I grab my camera, choose a lens, and head out with a to see what I can find. This was the case about a week ago, it was a Sunday, rain was forecast and maybe there was a bit of grey on the horizon but it was sunny so I thought I'd chance it.

Todays weapon of choice is my trusty Fujifilm X-T3 and the much overlooked catch all zoom - The Fujinon 18-135mm (which is 27mm to 200mm in full frame language) I think set the camera's film simulation to Astia - which is a beautiful monochrome setting, rich in detail. All the shots below are jpegs out of the camera, a little bit of cropping her and there but otherwise untouched.

Docklands, which as you probably imagine is a gentrified lands born out of the old docks which were on the doorstep of Melbourne is a big place, the area I headed to was the Stadium zone, home to Marvel Stadium, a 56,000 seat indoor/outdoor sporting arena, which is surrounded by modern office buildings.

Let's see what we find.

The abstract coloured glass wall of the nab office building, very Melbourne, very colourful, but removing that colour allows you to appreciate the architecture better (F5.6, 1/125)

A walkway with a view of Melbourne proper over the train line through the odd shaped windows (F4, 1/250)

Shapes produced by a hidden stairway at the side of a building, all clad in stark white (F9 1/250)

A strange angle between the ultra modern nab building and the edge of the stadium roof in the open position all against the cloud speckled sky ( F18 1/250)

Minutes later and the storm rolled in, catching out people as they made their way across the footbridge from the station.
