En 2016 con motivo de la celebración de los 464 años de la fundación de la ciudad de Barquisimeto, se inauguraría el monumento del Indio Jirahara, obra del artista local Benigno González y que se encuentra a un costado de la pista norte de la Avenida Hermano Nectario María, mejor conocida como La Ribereña por su ubicación en las riberas del río Turbio.

La tribu de los indios Jirajaras, eran descendientes de los indios Caribes, con quienes compartían su fiereza, además de poseer una nobleza y una valentía temeraria.

Habitaban al norte, centro y este del estado Lara y parte del vecino estado Yaracuy. Eran agricultores, artesanos y cazadores. Su estructura social se encontraba conformaba por cacicazgos, consejo de ancianos y la tribu. En lo político, se conformaba por el cacique, el chamán y la tribu.

Entre los años 1558 hasta 1628, en conjunto con los indios nirguas, los jiraharas opondrían resistencia a los conquistadores europeos que estaban estableciendose en lo que hoy en día son las poblacioned de Bejuma y Montalbán, al oeste de Valencia.

La fotografía la tomé en movimiento con el vehículo a baja velocidad mientras ingresaba en el Distribuidor Jirahars, y posteriormente la modifiqué haciendo uso de la aplicación PicsArt, empleando una superposición de filtros, comenzando con un filtro del tipo HDR (High Dynamic Range) con la finalidad de ampliar los tonos de la imagen original, y posteriormente un filtro sencillo de Blanco & Negro.

In 2016, on the occasion of the celebration of the 464 years of the founding of the city of Barquisimeto, the monument of the Jirahara Indian would be inaugurated, being the work of the local artist Benigno González and which is located next to the north track of the Hermano Nectario María Avenue, better known as La Ribereña (Riverside) for its location on the banks of the Turbio river.

The tribe of the Jirajaras Indians, were descendants of the Carib Indians, with whom they shared their fierceness, in addition to possessing a nobility and reckless bravery.

They inhabited the north, center and east of Lara state and part of the neighboring Yaracuy state. They were farmers, craftsmen and hunters. Its social structure was conformed by chiefs, council of elders and the tribe. Politically, it was made up of the chieftain, the shaman and the tribe.

Between 1558 and 1628, together with the Nirguas Indians, the jiraharas would resist European conquerors who were settling in what are nowadays the towns of Bejuma and Montalbán, west of Valencia.

I took the picture in motion with the vehicle at low speed while entering the Jirahara Distributor, and later modified it using the PicsArt application, using a filter overlay, starting with an HDR type filter (High Dynamic Range) in order to expand the tones of the original image, and then a simple Black & White filter.
