Old School 😜
Here's my first entry in this week's Monomad Photo Contest organised by @Brumest.

When I saw the topic this week would be 'Textures' I immediately knew what I wanted to shoot for my first entry. I'm sure many of you guys can appreciate the feel of vinyl and the smell too - simply can't be beat :)
Don't get me wrong, I'm no vinyl purist, and I'm happy nowadays to spin on CDJ's or controllers, but I simply can't bring myself to sell my old turntables even though they don't get used too much nowadays.
For this pic I used my Canon 500D DSLR and the shot was edited in Lightroom.
Anyway, it was fun getting this snap and expressing not only my new hobby (photography) ,but also letting you guys have a little glimpse into another very long-term passion of mine. Although Steemit doesn't really feel like the place to share mixsets etc, I'm hoping with the upcoming SMTs, a dedicated platform for DJs and Turntabalists will allow a little more monetization of our passions.
And on that note, I'll leave you with a banger from '93 many of you have probably heard since it's part of the original Trainspotting soundtrack. Enjoy!

Ach! Vinyl always gets me. I'm a sucker for those things. Even with all the HD, Ultra HD whatever audio, you could still hear the subtle loss due to compression. With vinyl it's raw and you could hear the sound like you're hearing it being recorded live. So awesome! Great angle on this, and great subject as well.

Yeah - I've often thought about why vinyl sounds so great. Apart from its warm tone, I think there's something about the fact that it's not 'perfect' which appeals to the ear. In a similar sense, take a band like the Rolling Stones who play in a very loose, wobbly style. There's something exciting about it, like it could all go wrong at any time :)
