1 Month on Steemit: How's it going?

in monthsary •  7 years ago

First few days...

Two (2) days after my registration for a steemit account has been approved, I was still hesitant to make a post. I wasn't even certain about what I should put up because as I was browsing, I kept on encountering terms that were foreign to me: "upvotes, minnows, voting power, steem power, etc". Those were terms I have yet to figure out and although I was invited by someone (hi @enjieneer  😂), I didn't wanna bother her by asking questions with which sooner or later I might find the answers to.

Luckily, I stumbled upon some posts which says that newbies must make a post about introducing yourself (#introduceyourself), some even gave tips as to what should be the content and others didn't really specify what you should indicate in your introduction. And so I made mine, and it's still my top paid post to date.

I kept wondering why it received that reception though...

  • was it because of the things I said?
  • The headline photo used (same one I used for this post)
  • My active engagement during the day

If it was because of the things I said, then congrats to me! I'm actually good with words. If it was because of my photo, then I guess, a photo of yourself which reeks of mystery is a good one to use then. If it was for my active engagement that day...it may be more justifiable.

For my next few posts, I played around with different topics I'm interested in. Well, I've always been interested in a lot of things anyway so I can't really go a certain route, it would be really hard for me to maintain a certain niche - I'm a free spirit!

Though I didn't get to experience the same reception I got for my first ever post, I wasn't disheartened. In fact, that's where the true feeling of being a newbie set in. It made me realize that I still have a long way to go if I wanna make it big on this platform.

So far...

  • I'm getting fond of the interaction. I love meeting new people (online though, I'm very awkward in person), but I can't really keep up with a lot of things all at once. I admit I'm a bad multi-tasker, so I'm actually enjoying having just the right amount of interaction. Although I hope, a notifications pop-up or something is on the works as it would be easier to keep track of replies and mentions.
  • I love how you can just talk about anything! Whether you're into cryptocurrency, art, story-telling, travel blogging...name it and you can write it!
  • The multiple platforms (steepshot, dtube, etc) were refreshing in a way, though I have yet to make use of every platform, I can't wait to try everything out.

What's in store for me and my steemit future?

I still won't have a niche, I figured that it really isn't my thing and I'll just post whichever I feel like writing about. There may be times when I'll feel like contributing to utopian, there may be days when I'd feel like just hopping around posts barely writing anything, and there will be days where I'll be writing about my life, my fangirling, my profession, or anything my mind's into at the moment.

Since I feel like I've only been exposed to around 20% of this platform, I'd keep learning about how things go around here.

P.S. This is a scheduled post. I'll be away from the city life for the weekend, I'll try to check out other's posts once I get back.

Funny that I read your blog and feel the same. I do multi task with Steem and family, and dont want to ask to much help from steemfriends, but every day My content is different.

Look up the STEEMIFY APP its notifies you of replies, comments or New blogs that helps me on the busy days to select what I can do while I am busy

Oh, that would really be helpful as I can't easily keep track of everything. Thanks for sharing about that app, I'll try to look it up :)

I look forward to reading more of your work! I am following, Upvoting and Resteeming you!

Thank you! I think it's one of those things that really matter in our lives and perhaps it's something innate as an introvert, one can only forge meaningful connections - though it's still limited in a way. Hehe

congrats ate just keep steeming!

Thank you! :)
