The 99% Moon Setting in the West with Sirius in the SW

in moon •  6 years ago

It was quite cold out, 28°F (-2°C), and the Nikon P1000 froze up on me 3 separate times during this short 15 minute shoot. It happened when taking photos, the zoom wouldn't work, no manual settings could be changed - I had to keep turning the camera on and off to reset it. I never had that problem with the P900 in even colder weather and for longer periods of time, so this is concerning.

It was interesting getting the exact phase of the 99.2% lit Moon rising in the East on Tuesday Oct 23, 2018 at 7:37pm and then seeing it at the same phase 2 days later as it was setting in the West at 7:11am Thursday Oct 25, 2018. The rotation of our 'mesa & light beam' area was rotated about halfway down.

Oh, and it was nice to get Sirius over in the SW sky again. :)

7:01am to 7:15am Thursday Oct 25, 2018, NE Ohio, 28°F (-2°C)
