"From the fountain of his heart shall raise rivers of goodness; and the streams shall overflow, for the benefit of mankind." -Circle 7 Koran

What is upliftment to you? To me, upliftment is making it a part of your life to better unfortunate people's lives. To manifest, and organize, and to inform ideas that can better their lives after you pass to the soul plane. Charity isn't about one day, one time; not even a few times. Charity should be something that is strived for, something that invokes despair if not carried out. It's about utilizing your resources for the betterment of another person's improvement.

Now mentally, what is upliftment to you? Why is charity important to the person uplifting? From our event we as a group stood in the hot sun, dragging supplies all over the place. We were so busy we didn't even have time to eat. By 5 pm. we were drained, and we still didn't make a dent in the problem.

What is upliftment to you? On my drive home, I had a strange feeling. On one hand, I was overjoyed by the event, demonstrating as a Moorish American for the people. On the other hand, I felt sad that we couldn't help more people in more ways. Then something hit me, I realized the measure was for all of us. We took on the burden while we walked in the shoes of the less fortunate. Being out in the sun all day walking and taking all your stuff with you for hours and not eating. These people do this every day for years. We got a small close up, a slight glimpse into their lives and look at the toll it took on us. We find solace in the fact that we get to go home after this that we are just visiting. This changed my perspective completely.

What is upliftment to you? Upliftment doesn't limit to just those who are poor and homeless, but also to those who are trying to uplift. Only through nationhood can we make any change on this world. No one person can do it; we must link to together and make things happen. One collective and conscious movement. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of effort from my people; I don't feel we got the support we were supposed to. We did have some faithful moors that did support, and we are so grateful for that. We all did our best but at the end of the day one person still left the demonstration hungry even after Shaheed El and his moabitess Alexa Morgan bought three Little Caesars pizzas.

What is upliftment to you? This lack of support isn't malicious in any way, and I hold no hatred towards any of my brothers or sisters, but I do realize that it is lack of studying self. Any Moorish American that is studying will know that one has a social duty to their family, their nation and to themselves in order to assist in the upliftment of fallen humanity. That is why I am disappointed most by the Moorish Americans that failed to demonstrate this upliftment and probably were capable of doing more. As disappointed as I am, this does not reflect on the entire nation, this only sheds light on the few that aren't ready to demonstrate in the measure. Moorish Americans are great people, and I am not bashing them in anyway, I just feel we have to start demonstrating in thought, word and deed. Not just thought and word. We as Moorish Americans have tons of brilliant ideas, we just have to execute and support others that execute. I hope for the next demonstration we demonstrate not as a temple, but as a nation. So when a Moorish American comes to you with some excuses, ask them β€œwhat is upliftment to you?”
