The holy Quran was written from the beginning. But the Prophet (peace be upon him) had long written verses, but people knew it as a faithful and authentic narrative. Nobody dared to write a great deal of hadith. Hadrat Abu Sa'id narrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Do not write anything except the Qur'an, if you write it, erase it." - This statement did not dare to write.
The significance of this ban is very clear. When the Qur'an was revealed, if the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) wrote the words of the Prophet (peace be upon him), it would have been feared that it could become harmonious with the Qur'an. Not only that, this ban was pronounced in front of the great goal of avoiding this mixture and it was not said that it was limited to the time of the Quran.
