In the sacred scriptures Moses was the prophet sent by God to free the Israelites from slavery. Moses was a liberator and a good example of how the sense of duty works in people; he accepted the task assigned by God and never complained, Moses through his remarkable acts showed that he was a person guided, enlightened, and inspired by God.
The Bible constantly tells us about the problem of oppression: "Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God" Proverbs 14:31. Acting in accordance with God's will, putting the commandments into practice means liberating the oppressed and defending those who, due to their defenseless state, cannot return the effort made, such as orphans, the sick and the elderly, and this was what this prophet did. As Moses demonstrated, the mercy (compassion, kindness, gentleness) and the fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion) are the spiritual gifts that make us truly human and children of God.
After escaping due to the death of an Egyptian who mistreated an Israelite, the Pharaoh tried to kill Moses, but Moses abandoned the land of Egypt and took refuge in the Midian region; there he met a priest from the region and married one of his daughters, called Zipporah, and it was there that his spiritual mission began.
This is how the Bible tells us how God remembered his pact with the patriarch Abraham and all the people of Israel, and how after this God called Moses:
"During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them" Exodus 2:23-25.
