ASRock is working out to sell 4 graphics cards (GPU) particularly geared for cryptocurrency mining.
The company unveiled its Phantom Gaming Series in the previous week, based on AMD's RX series. An employee in ASRock America verified to CoinDesk that all the four cards are versions of the RX570 series "for mining only." According to the employee, a fifth RX570 8G OC version is the gaming-oriented product’s version.
The authentication comes after a screenshot presentation on Twitter late last month by VideoCardz.com featuring the planned products.
It was a journey with ASRock releasing a mining-specific motherboard back in the year 2013 seeking to exploit on demand for GPUs by miners, who utilize the technology in the energy-intensive mining process. It’s that demand that has facilitated to growing sales of companies like Nvidia and AMD even though both companies have said that cryptocurrency miners only form a small part of their customer base.
According to PCGamer report, which was covered last week, it reveals the RX570 series will operate AMD's Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition. It’s a recognizable detail because, before the statement, AMD restructured the same driver to help in handling cryptocurrency mining tasks in a better way, as previously reported by CoinDesk.
It’s the same day that Bitmain, the globe’s biggest maker of bitcoin mining hardware revealed new application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) which is committed to digital currencies like ethash-based and ethereum coins. The Antminer E3, which is expected to arrive in July, rapidly sold out following the China-based company beginning to accept pre-orders.
