I was out on my photography jaunt on a very cold and wet morning after a night of continuous drizzle. As I drove slowly past an open field with stagnant water, I came across this heart warming scene involving a family of Black-winged Stilts.
Aren't these chicks just adorable!! Anyways, as I watched, one shivering chick approached the mother for shelter who willingly opened her long legs to enable it to duck under her wings.
Taking a cue from the first one, another sibling approached the mother for shelter who obliged by tucking it under her.
Not to be left behind, the third chick too came towards the mother who somehow managed to accommodate all three under her wings while struggling to maintain her balance!! It was such a tender moment to witness. Of course, I did not or could not miss the opportunity to shoot a short video of this wonderful event.
Eventually, as the wind died down and the sun started coming out; the chicks disengaged from their mom one by one to enjoy the sunshine.
What a day it turned out to be for me!! I felt blessed to have been a witness to this rare natural event.
