Mothers Day Freakin Reflection

Mothers Day it's an odd day really, hyped up in the stores weeks before with colourful slippers and mugs that say "Best Mum In The World", cards and chocolates!

Yet my reality was a really sweet morning, happy kids sharing their handmade cards, drawings and a beautiful poem my daughter had written. Nothing store bought which I'm completely happy with. Then comes the onslaught of breakfast in bed... luke warm peppermint tea, poached eggs all served with a smile and a few more chants of Happy Mothers Day Mum.
How do you like your breakfast? Delicious thanks!

Those niceties lasted all of 60 minutes before the real joys of Mothers Day followed... what are we doing today, are we going out, I don't want to stay on the farm, I'm bored, my sister hit me, stomping feet, child death stares and me thinking a Gin and Tonic for breakfast would've been great.

The morning continued with a coffee and a few babychinos at my favourite coffee shop in town, this funky little place with outside setting and room for kids to run and weave between all the other patrons ;)

Then home with all kids in tow, my middle child explaining that she wanted to do something else for Mother's Day she wanted to go to the skate park and it's not fair that we can't go skating Mum!

Funny that I thought Mother's Day was about me and what I'd like to do. Let's see how about we go home and go for a walk then we'll help Dad with chop wood and stack it, then I'll do all those other joyful things like, make school lunches, spend 45 minutes getting dinner ready, fold the clothes, start a fire (I love this part) and thank my lucky stars it's Mothers Day 🙏

Interesting concept Mothers Day... yet I hope all the mums I know had a wonderful day doing all the things they love to do ❤️❤️
