TARA: It’s about accepting change

in motiongraphics •  5 years ago

A few months ago I closed my company. It was a tiny one-person-operation I’ve had for years with barely any income. The strange thing is, that I’ve had steady employment at another company throughout most of those years. I just couldn’t let go because of the fear of missing out. “Missing out of what” you might say, “the big thing” I might have responded.

Maybe even the fear of being trapped.

But my priorities have changed. During the past 8 years, I’ve met the girl, bought the house and received two wonderful children. I am, for lack of better words, trapped: in a web of my own choosing with obligations I couldn’t live without. But that doesn’t leave much time to bicker with clients and do soul wrenching work.

It’s not by any means a static prison, but an estranged dance with ever-changing conditions in an accelerated time frame: weeks go by like hours when you have oatmeal on your shirt.

So I stopped being disillusioned, committed myself whole heartedly and reprioritized: I now only want to invest my time into endeavors that have value for me: Family, a few good friends, a steady creative job at company whose mission statement is “helping save lives” + my passion of making visuals and seeking meaning.

Which brings me to my post: does telling you my opinion add value to me? Inherently not, but it could effect the collective consciousness.

An idea rarely exists alone, a likened one pops up as soon as the right conditions are met. So by telling you what motivates me maybe you could tell what motivates you? And why? And we could have a discussion only using memes...

TARA is about taking the time and then act. And after the action itself, why not analyze the result and figure out how to maximize the outcome next iteration.

It’s not the old “just do it” slogan, it’s the older “think before you do” mantra - a trait all introverts share in common.

So this is just me pushing my introvert agenda into your feed, trying to figure out how to keep evolving as a person.
