Jacare Souza Turns Back The Clock With A Blistering 1st Round KO of Derek Brunson.

The Charlotte crowd had to witness a few of their hometown fighters get obliterated, but the hardest to take had to have been 'DB' Brunson as he has been waiting over a half decade for this rematch.

Jacare Souze dismantled Brunson in the 1st round of their Strikeforce match in 2012 with a solid counter right hand...and in this bout he ended the fight with a high kick to the same lunging open chinned opponent. It was quite disappointing seeing Brunson receive the same fate without improving any tendencies from his fight six years ago. Some fighters never change as they get the knockouts and win bonuses they need up until they face a true top 5 contender.

I wish the best for Brunson in his hike back to the top, but from the fans had seen last night, he won't be close to a belt or title shot in the near future. Fighters must evolve, and Jacare showed that even as a near 40 mixed martial artist...he still has the power and experience to dismantle the best of em'. As I said...fear the old men in a place where young men die, truer words have never been uttered.

Good job by the “old man”. I watched. And yeah...Brunson won’t be the same after that.
I don’t know what the odds were. But a lot of people had Brunson winning rather easily.
: )

I picked Brunson to win but the guy has no fight iq...in retrospect just a terrible choice.

When I saw the clips of him beating up Kelly and Machida.....I thought it was gonna go different as well. I don’t know clearly as much as you. Lol
But just the eye test? He didn’t look anything like he did last year. I guess that’s the nature of fighting. Gotta get in there and scrap. Only as good as your last fight. Right?
: )

Absolutely, you know your mma!

@brandonk great post. Brunson will bounce back a true fighter never gives up and hopefully takes some knowledge from the loss and climbs back on top. Keep the content coming. I enjoyed it ;)

Thx for coming by!
