The Eternal Rule, Our future depends on what we are doing now: Mahatma Gandhi

Our future depends on what we are doing now.

Mahatma Gandhi

Mohandas Gandhi is one of the greatest political and ideological leaders. In 1915, the famous Indian writer Rabindranath Tagore first applied the title of Mahatma, the Great Soul, to Mohandas Gandhi. However, Gandhi himself did not accept it, considering himself unworthy.

But in fact he did a lot for his people and his independence from England. Non-violent resistance is a boycott of English goods and institutions, as well as the violation of certain laws. Gandhi also actively combated caste inequality and tried to improve the life of the untouchables as much as possible.

Despite the fact that Gandhi occupied a rather high position in society, he himself lived very modestly, wore monk's attire and practiced vegetarianism and fruitarianism.

This person has changed not only himself, but also the world around him, without violence and cruelty. It seems to me that now we would not be hampered by the lessons of wisdom from such a person. And then, perhaps, first we will change, and then our society. But you need to start with yourself.

1. Change

You must be the change that you would like to see in the world.

I repeat, we must start with ourselves. If we want change, we must be an example. If you succeed, people will reach for you. Anyone can blame for the failures of government, society and the Lord God. Anyone can complain, but only a few, to understand the problem in themselves and start a change.

2. Ask the right questions

The strength of the question is that it underlies human progress.

Ask the right questions to the right people. The quality of life is directly dependent on the quality of the questions asked. You can not get the answers you need, no questions asked. You can not make progress without an inquisitive and lively mind.

3. Always act

There is an impulse to action - let's see what happens now. You can break one big plan into small steps and take the first step right now.

This is a more philosophical version of the familiar "Do not put off till tomorrow what you can do today." Tomorrow will never come, and yesterday is already past. We live in the present. Hence, we must act "here and now." In addition, we can never be 100% sure that tomorrow will come at all.

"Our future depends on what we are doing now."

4. Goodbye

The weak can not forgive. Forgiveness is a feature of the strong.

What a person quickly forgives does not at all mean his weakness. On the contrary, this is a sign of his spiritual strength. Only the weak do not know how to forgive and keep in themselves the insult, anger or envy that corrodes it from within, the creation is even weaker.

5. Keep track of your beliefs

Your beliefs will become your thoughts. Your thoughts will become your words. Your words will become your actions. Your actions will become your habits. Your habits will become your values. Your values will become your destiny.

What are you thinking about? What do you believe in? How does your future feel? Do you believe in your potential? Every time in doubt, remember this saying. After all, you are what you believe. Keep track of your thoughts, believe in your success and you will necessarily succeed - let it not be the first time, but from the tenth.

I saw an Indian movie recently 'Munnabhai MBBS" , Which also describes well the need of values and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, in today's time.

That's great to have your feedback @techlife. I was greatly inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy that the force of power never wins against the power of love.

Lately it seems people resent being questioned. The ones I encounter are so fervent and convinced of their beliefs they will not tolerate a question even in the most benign way asked. I wonder why that is. It's contrary to the inquisitive and curious mind and seems a dangerous way of being.

Thanks for the reply @antimetica. The teachings of Mahatma Gandhi are not easy to follow.
