Getting the heart rate up and moving is challenging for many of us. The "resting period" some seem to enjoy more than the getting in shape period. Cardio is what gives us the ability to keep working through a gym workout. If you were out of shape then you couldn't put in half the effort as when you are able to still breathe after a heavy set.
A balance must be found. Too much cardio and you can be burning muscular gains you worked so hard for. However, not enough cardio can put you into a sluggish rut. Every movement can feel like it is too much. Practice cardio so that the other parts of your day, and even your intense workouts will be completed with ease.
